Cats do, however, “squint” their eyes.  This is usually as a form of communication – expressing ease and affection around another cat or human.

Staring at your cat without blinking will make him/her uneasy, whilst slowly blinking will help to ease him/her.  Why not give it a try if you sense your cat is nervous or upset …
