miss milly
Milly in Ripponden, Yorkshire asked us to call in for a maintenance session. She’d had enough of her big winter coat and wanted to feel fresh for the Spring.
Milly is a Ragdoll and is 3 years old. She’s only a small girl – but boy, does she carry a lot of coat !
Although Milly’s not keen on her sessions she is very compliant and apart from the old grumble she chills out as much as possible to the music we play for her. She even helps a little with the odd lick around her chest.
No knots today – just a good brush out. Even this though was quite intense – as there was so much of it – so, a big applause to Miss Milly !
See the piccie above, of the hair that came away …
A few days after the session, mum Abby said
“Thanks so much for seeing Milly again for me ! She’s quite timid and decided to hide under my bed for 10 minutes prior to the session. However, she emerged later looking very happy and quite proud of herself. Sandra did an amazing job as usual and Milly quickly forgave her after. Thank you !! x”
lovely evander
Who remembers 2 year old Evander in Rochdale, Greater Manchester ?
Evander (aka Baba Sweet Cheeks) is a Maine Coon. He is quite a nervous young man, but once on the grooming table he is so friendly, calm and compliant …. and boy, we’re glad about that as Evander is quite a huge young man. He weighs in at 9.3kg (20.5lb). All being well, Evander has done most of his growing by now but he hasn’t finished as Maine Coons don’t mature until 4-5 years old.
Evander’s coat was definitely ready for a brush out. There was only a small tangle that couldn’t be worked through with the comb, but the rest was brushed through. It took a while, due to Evander’s size and thickness of coat – but Evander was so well behaved. A gentleman.
….. and here’s the hair that came away !
Evander will definitely be feeling a little slicker without all that weighing him down !
After the session, mum Keela told us
“Just wanted to say a big thank you for giving our Maine Coon boy Evander a “Spring clean” cut! His Winter coat had gotten rather long and heavy for him but his makeover has made him a happy boy once again and it’s took years off him!! Your professionalism is exceptional and whilst Evander might not be too pleased to start off with, he soon settles down once you get to work and he knows that it’s all in his best interest. Thanks again and hope to see you soon xx”
Fantastic ! Thanks Keela and Evander !
dashing dexter
This gorgeous Maine Coon cross is a new addition to our gang ! He’s called Dexter and he hangs out in Knutsford, Cheshire with his housemate and family. Here’s a piccie of Dexter, mid-lick !
At 9 years old, Dexter thinks he’s the boss. In fact, a bit more than that – he knows he’s the boss (in his view !).
Dexter doesn’t mind being brushed from time to time on his terms. He certainly needs to be in the mood. However, saying that, his coat was in lovely condition as mum and dad were managing to keep on top of it.
To make it easier all round we decided to let Dexter have a clip, to remove most of the hair from his torso. He’s never been clipped before, so we weren’t sure how he would interact in the session.
We began very well and Dexter wasn’t afraid of the clippers. As the session progressed, he decided that actually he’d rather be doing something else. However, we persuaded him that a clip down the left side, and a fully body of hair down the right wasn’t in fashion this season. So, reluctantly Dexter agreed and let us finish the session without too much fuss.
Afterwards, it was obvious that Dexter was pretty chuffed with himself. He came to meet mum as she arrived home from work, then set about a self groom. He seemed pleased that his coat was so short !
hercules champion
Hands up if you remember Hercules Champion ? He’s our Maine Coon friend in Kirkham, Lancashire.
Today, Hercules Champion was on good form. He’s been a bit unsettled recently, with living arrangements changing … and we know how even the slightest thing can upset a cat – even moving a chair from one side of the room to the other has been known ! … but Yes, today Hercules Champion was obviously very much chilled and relaxed.
We wonder if he knew it was actually his birthday today ? A fine 16 years old – which is a great age for any Maine Coon.
Just one or 2 tangles were taken away, followed by a good brush out. Afterwards, Hercules Champion looked really handsome. He certainly doesn’t look his age !
See you soon, Herkie !
lady tilly
Tilly in Preston, Lancashire is a real sweetheart. She is 11 years old now and is, well, adored by her mum and dad.
Tilly’s coat is thick and as she has become a more mature lady her self grooming has decreased. Underneath, a few knots had developed which needed to be removed – whilst most of Tilly’s back and sides were salvaged with a good brushing out. Tilly said she preferred the clippers to the comb, but fared very well and let us work through with minimum fuss. This first session was quite intense for Tilly and her interaction was impeccable. Meows at the appropriate moments – just to let us know all was well ! – whilst we got on with job in hand.
A few days after the session, mum and dad Deb and Darren said :
“Sandra lovely meeting you yesterday the service you offer is fantastic. We have really struggled to find a cat groomer and particularly one as caring and professional as you ! Tilly aka Monkey looks wonderful and is looking forward to your follow up visit! We are so glad we found you and wish it had been earlier as you have transformed our beautiful cat!!! xx Look forward to seeing you soon !“
Wonderful – thanks both ! ….. and see you again soon, Tilly !
macy moo
We called into to see our friend Macy in Manchester again. Macy is 3 years old and a gorgeous Maine Coon who we meet up with on a regular basis.
Macy’s used to the sessions and knows what to expect, but that doesn’t stop her sometimes being a little grumpy about proceedings. Today, just a few areas needed particular attention, followed by a brush out to rid Macy of dead winter coat.
Actually, although we had some naughty words, there were parts of the session when we think that Macy was quite chilled and almost enjoyed herself !
After the session, mum Francesca said
“Another great session today Sandra – both the girls are super happy with their coats ! Thank you !”
Bril … Nice seeing you Macy … See you again soon chick !
maintenance appointments really do help …
Some of you will know that each month we send Reminders to existing customers (who have said they want Reminders), who we feel would benefit from a maintenance session. This helps to reduce the risk of mats forming going forwards. We only remind once – not again the following month or it would become a drain on resources, plus we’re not hassling – just reminding.
Where customers don’t arrange a maintenance session, we often see them again months later when significant problems have developed. Often the coat is once again at crisis stage.
Our current pricing allows a proviso of £25 dependent on coat condition / interaction during the session. This is because until we meet and work with your cat, we’re not sure exactly what we’re dealing with. This will continue to stand for new customers.
However, from today (31 Mar 15) : Any appointments booked with existing customers who have either not taken up our advice of the maintenance session appointment, or have said that they don’t want Reminders – where the coat is now difficult to work through again due to matting or pelting – will attract a £45 proviso rather than £25. This is because the sessions are inevitably more difficult for both us and your cat.
Hope this is acceptable but any queries or questions, please do not hesitate to let us know. Thanks.
gentle spirit
Spirit is 7 years old and a most gentle and quiet young man. He’s a Himalayan Persian who hangs out in Cheadle, Stockport, Cheshire.
Mum had decided to give her boys a home groom session to see how they fared – and it worked out really well.
Spirit’s coat was well maintained – not too thick at all and only a couple of small knotted areas. Amazing, as it seems that Spirit does most of the maintaining himself ! It was a very calm, gentle get together. Spirit was very obliging – and purred his way through the session as we brushed him out.
A few days after the session, mum Abi said
“Sandra arrived on time with all equipment she needed-including soothing cat music! Rufus went 1st for his Lion cut. He proved a bit of a handful but was dealt with patiently and with love. Spirit went 2nd and was an easier propostion who purred through the whole process!!!
Rufus took a bit of getting used to his new look but think he now loves it-must be a relief to be free from all those tangles. He is currently following me around like a puppy! Spirit is his usual model self, knows he is beautiful and likes to keep it that way ! Thanks to Sandra for such a professional service and great results! Look forward to the next session.”(Rufus’ story was published a few days ago). See you again in a few weeks time, Spirit ….!
how gorgeous …
Thanks so much to the lovely Elsa and mum Janice in Stockport, Cheshire for the gorgeous flowers ! It was so nice seeing you all again xx
