handsome nelson
Say a big Hello to Nelson. Nelson is a 7 year old brown Maine Coon who lives with his family in Wilmslow, Cheshire.
We were asked to call to meet up with Nelson as his coat had developed some matted areas, particularly down his lower back and flanks. As with some Maine Coons, Nelson’s coat is thick and rugged and was ready for a good brush out.
Nelson is a very friendly, affectionate boy who knows that he is good looking ! We think he knew from the outset what the session was all about and he lay patiently for the most part whilst we got to work. He seemed to enjoy the music we played for him, and was quite dozy during the session.
Afterwards, he came back into the room where we’d held the session (for a nosey), and gave us a head rub. His way of saying thanks !
If you are a facebook user, pop over to our Wall where you can see a short video clip of Nelson, after his grooming session.
Well done, Nelson. Sure you’ll be feeling more comfy with your thinner coat …
mr teddy bear
We’re not sure if we’ve every met a more laid back cat …. ??!! On the left, here, is a piccie of Mr Teddy Bear just before we began his session.
Mr Teddy Bear is a 15 month old Longhaired Exotic who lives with his housemate and family in Connah’s Quay, Flintshire, Wales.
Exotics are more usually shorthaired. The longhaired variety are classed as Persians by some of the cat bodies. Mr Teddy Bear’s coat was extremely dense, and had one or two tangles – and was quite overwhelming.
In order to give both he and mum a fresh start, we decided to give him a Lion Clip.
Mr Teddy Bear seemed to realise from the start what was going on. From the moment he sat down on the grooming table, he sat contently looking out into his garden whilst we clipped away. He literally didn’t move a muscle. He wasn’t in the least bit afraid of the clippers or the situation, but rather was enjoying the fuss and attention.
We decided to leave him with a full mane, and to leave it ‘natural’ (ie. uneven/raw) – rather than trimming it with the scissors.
We played some relaxing music for Mr Teddy Bear and we think he really liked it !
When we’d finished the session, Mr Teddy Bear continued to lay happily on the table for the photoshoot ! We literally had to lift him off and tell him it was over … otherwise he’d probably still be sat there !
After the session, mum Kirsty said :
“One extremely satisfied customer ! Not only did Mr Teddy Bear want to stay on the table when you’d finished, he hasn’t stopped bouncing around since you left ! He’s like a new cat ! Thank you so much, a lovely experience for Teddy and for us, I promise I’ll send some videos of his mad half hour ! He’s like a new cat, it’s amazing ! I think the weight of that hair was really inhibiting him, he’s running around, jumping up on everything and wants to be stroked constantly ! You’ve given us a new cat ! xxx”
Hehe … Fantastic. The change for Mr Teddy Bear must be incredible and he must feel like he has a brand new body ! Pop over to our facebook page where you can see a video clip of Mr Teddy Bear – Before his clip, then on the grooming table – and then after his clip, bouncing around with Reece !! What a difference in both mood and behaviour …
It was a really nice session … Well done Mr Teddy Bear !! Also … We wonder if anyone has noticed how your tail is so curly wurly and always hangs to the left ..?!!
gorgeous moody
We called in to see one of our regular customers in Prescot, Merseyside, and got a real warm welcome. Lots of purring and head buts !
Moody is the most placid, friendly girl you can imagine. She is 14 years old, and is a Burmese.
Moody has a short, lush coat, and lets mum comb her regularly. Our job is to keep on top of her nails, and she has a trim every few weeks.
Fit, healthy cats that spend a lot of time outside generally naturally wear down their claws sufficiently.
However, indoor or elderly cats may need to have their claws trimmed regularly. Also, some cats have an extra toe (polydactyl) which doesn’t touch the ground (just like the normal dew claw) and may overgrow. If overgrown claws aren’t trimmed they can grow inwards into the pad and can be painful, and become infected.
Moody is well used to the sessions now and afterwards was full of herself, wanting attention and fussing !
See you again soon Moody …
mr mallory
Meet Mals – or Mallory on a Sunday !
This handsome guy is, would you believe, 14 years old (although to meet him, you would never think so). Mallory is a silver and white tabby Maine Coon who lives with his housemates and family in Didsbury, Manchester.
Mallory was still holding on to a great deal of his winter coat. He had developed some small matted areas that needed to be clipped away, and the rest of his coat was really ready for a good brush out as it was thick and becoming clumpy.
He’s a very gentle boy, Mallory. He settled somewhat on the table about 10 or 15 minutes into the session, and although was a little fidgety and vocal, managed to relax whilst we set to work underneath. We think he liked the music we played during the session, He wasn’t afraid of the clippers at all and laid happily whilst we sorted out his coat. Then we had a good brush out, and we’re sure that he is now feeling a lot lighter and no doubt even chirpier ! Here’s a piccie of the hair that was brushed out.
Following the session, mum Ann commented :
“
Why don’t you come over to our facebook page and see a short clip of Mallory after his groom, with the hair that was brushed out.
Good boy, Mallory – nice working with you. Well done !
miss mia
It was nice to meet up again with miss Mia in Nantwich, Cheshire.
Mia is a Blue Persian, who is almost 5 years old. She lives with her family and it’s fair to say she has the life of riley.
When we first met Mia late last year, her coat was extremely full and in need of a good work through. Since then, with regular sessions and the natural shedding time of year, Mia’s coat is much more manageable. Mia now also lets mum have a few minutes 1:1 grooming time with her each evening.
We began work underneath, where Mia’s coat is very ‘curly wurly’. We had a good comb through – no knots, which was fantastic – but as usual within minutes the hair had sprung back to it’s wavy self. We think Mia enjoys the sessions. Although she’s not too keen on laying on her side, once there she settles for long enough to make good headway. She loves having her front end fussed with – her shoulders, ruff etc …
Take a few minutes to come over to our facebook page where you can see a video clip of Mia on the grooming table.
A really nice session – Well done Mia !
makes a good cuppa !
Thanks so much to mum Alison and the lovely Mia, for this beautiful kitty cup ….
Emmm, it does make the coffee taste soooo good .. !!
luscious luigi
This handsome fellow is almost 4 years old, and is a (semi) longhaired Exotic who lives with his housemate and family in Windermere, Cumbria.
Exotics are usually shorthaired, but longhaired variants are possible. Longhaired Exotics are considered Persians by some cat bodies.
We’ve been holding fairly regular sessions with Luigi, to get on top of his thick coat. The first time we met up with him last year, his coat was extremely tufty and we held an intense session to make him more comfortable.
This time around, Luigi was definitely in need of a brush out and the session was timely. However, the session was much more relaxed and a maintenance groom. We now feel on top of the situation and Luigi’s coat is looking so lush and fine. Luigi know this, and is obviously very proud of his looks ! We can almost see him strutting around, showing off his new body …
Luigi is a nervous boy, but he now knows what to expect. During the last couple of times we have met up, it has been apparent that his is much more relaxed about the proceedings.
Well done Luigi … Really proud of you, chick ! See you soon …
mr radek
Do you remember Radek ? This 6 year old Persian lives in Newton le Willows, Merseyside with his mum.
Radek has the most amazing-ly (word ?!) long coat you can imagine and it’s a big job for both he and mum to keep on top of it. However, they manage very well and it was so nice that we didn’t need to use the clippers at all during today’s session. Well done to both of you !
We know Radek’s little ways very well, as we see him regularly. For example …. We know that he is more sensitive down his right side, than his left … We know that he doesn’t like his back feet being touched – just little things like that ! So we structure the session accordingly.
We played some soothing cat music, which we think Radek enjoys. He lay very relaxed on the grooming table, almost dozing, for parts of the session. He is very obliging and often likes to offer / outstretch is front legs for a good combing, at the appropriate moment ! It was a very pleasing session all round.
After the session, mum Lorraine said :
“Just had another great session with Sandra. Although Radek can be a tricky little customer, Sandra knows just how to handle him and he soon settles down and is back to looking as gorgeous as ever ! Thanks again Sandra you are a miracle worker xx”
Why not take a few minutes to pop over to our facebook page to see a video clip of Radek, after his grooming session. Look at the length of his coat !!
Well done guys …. See you again soon !!
left or right ?
What do you think ? Is this true for your kitty ?
Previous research has obviously been done to come up with this claim. Why not test it out for yourself … Dangle a toy in front of your kitty’s nose and see which paw bats it. Or put a treat just out of their reach – under the sofa or somewhere – and see what happens.
Then go over to our facebook page and report back :
1.Girl or Boy
2.What the test was
3.If you think they are left or right handed
We think it will be interesting to see how our results stack up !
lovely sophie
This lovely girl is 14 year old Sophie who lives with her housemates and mum in Knutsford, Cheshire.
Sophie is a Silver Spotted British Short Hair (BSH) who we meet up with regularly. Her coat is extremely dense, although short. Sophie isn’t able to keep on top of it herself, nor does she let mum comb her. We think that Sophie has a touch of arthritis around her joints and this probably contributes to her self grooming capability.
We began work underneath, brushing out. No mats, just thick hair – too much of it ! Although it’s only a matter of weeks since we last met up, the coat around the sides and flanks was extremely thick and really ready for a good thinning.
Well done Sophie … See you again soon.
