We’d love to see you over there !
mr bertie
This Silver Tabby Maine Coon lives with his housemates and family in Flixton, Manchester. He is almost 5 years old, is called Bertie – and he is an Extra Large chap !
Bertie is a very good natured young man, and this was the first time we’d met up with him. His long, wooly coat had been matted – particularly around the rear quarters, lower back and sides. We decided to give him a partial clip, for a fresh start.
Although a little fidgety at times, Bertie managed to stay calm and obliging on the grooming table. Not the least bit afraid of the clippers. In fact, he preferred any knots to be clipped rather than a harsh brush.
We think he knew what we were up to, and we’re pleased that he’ll now be feeling so much more comfy. It’s a sham the piccie is a little blurry. We’ll get a better one next visit.
After the session, the first thing on Bertie’s mind was topping up his tum – followed by a good self groom in his favourite spot on the sofa.
Mum Marian later said :
“I cannot recommend Sandra enough. She took on 2 heavily knotted Maine coon cats who were no easy clients and with patience, care and expertise turned them into matt-free and silky-coated felines. Thank you Sandra we look forward to seeing you again as arranged !”
Really nice meeting up, Bertie. Looking forward to seeing you again in a few weeks time !
baby sophie
Say a big Hi to this little mischievous kitten, Sophie. Sophie is 7 months old and is a cream Persian who lives with her mum in Burnley, Lancashire.
Sophie was very inquisitive when we arrived at her house. We set up stall and she said she’d never seen anything like it before ! Doing her best to be in and out of the bags, begging to know exactly what was going on….
Sophie’s mum is a bit of a novice with cats, but she’s done a good job over the last few months keeping up with Sophie’s coat.
It took Sophie a good few minutes before she understood what was required of her on the grooming table. ie – Chill and Relax ! … but the little chick managed it, whilst we got to work underneath – teasing out a few tangles, and clipping away a couple of small mats that had formed. We brushed out the rest of her coat, which will begin to get denser now the winter months are approaching.
Afterwards, Sophie just couldn’t stay away. She has a very strong personality and had to be told time and time again to get out of / stay away from bags. Cheeky girl !
Mum Lorna said :
“Lovely to meet you and to say I was absolutely delighted with Sophie after you had finished her first groom. I thought that she was quite well groomed by myself BUT what a difference it made to her when groomed by you. Her hair was so soft and lovely and she looked so proud to show off her coat!!. You also helped me by giving me advice on how to brush and comb properly and I am looking forward to her next appointment (as I am sure Sophie is too). You have a natural flair for handling cats and getting their confidence very quickly and I am so pleased I was recommended to you and I would recommend you to everyone who has a cat.”
Thanks so much Lorna … and such a good first session, Sophie – Well done !! See you again soon …
Hercules Champion
It was time to call in to see our Hercules Champion friend in Kirkham, once again. Hercules Champion is a Silver/Red Maine Coon, 15 years old, and is adored by his mum !
We meet up on a regular basis with Hercules Champion as he spends a lot of time outside, and comes back with a lot of foliage in his coat. He doesn’t like mum brushing him, and isn’t able to keep on top of it himself.
We had a brush out, and removed a few tangles here and there that had formed. Hercules knows what to expect of a session and although he might prefer to be in bed (catching up on that sleep, as he’s often out all night !) he lets us sort his coat out. We think he knows just what it’s all about and that he feels much comfier afterwards.
Nice seeing you again Hercules Champion …. Take care, chick !
cutie cleo
This young lady asked us to call in on her again in Stockport, Cheshire. She is 5 years old, a Maine Coon – and is called Cleo.
A more gentle girl you can not meet. Cleo sat patiently whilst we set up the grooming table and prepared for the session, then there was no fuss as we set about working through her coat.
We think she remembered the last session (when she behaved impeccably) and laid contently, listening to the music that was playing in the background.
Her coat had one or 2 tangles that needed removing, followed by a good brush out to rid her of dead hair that was sat there.
Following the session, mum Amy said :
“ Hi Sandra, we’re very happy with her coat thanks very much ! She seemed very happy and relaxed after her session. Also , I’ve noticed she’s much happier to be brushed since her sessions with you – she used to run off at the very sight of a brush ! But now seems to quite like it ! I would recommend your services to anyone looking to have their cat groomed. We’ve tried a few groomers over the years and have never been happy. We wouldn’t go anywhere else now ! A very happy customer here ! See you soon x “
It was a very nice, calm session. Well done Cleo – such a good girl !!

handsome alfie
Meet Alfie ! He is a large 6 year old Brown Tabby Maine Coon, who lives in Flixton, Manchester.
This was a the first time Alfie had asked us to call on him. He is a very timid boy by nature and easily gets spooked with loud or sudden noises.
Mum brought Alfie into the kitchen, where we had decided to hold the session. Alfie immediately panicked and hid under the dresser. However, he was easily coaxed out with treats (!) and then found himself placed on the grooming table. Within (10 ?) seconds Alfie had relaxed sufficiently to start work on his tummy.
Although, no doubt, Alfie would rather have still been in his bed upstairs, he lay very calmly and very patiently whilst we worked through his coat. There were some areas that were quite knotty, where we clipped some coat away (Alfie was not afraid of the clippers at all). However, the majority of Alfie’s coat was saved with brushing out the tangles, as he really didn’t mind a harsh brush out. Here’s the hair that was brushed out.
After the session mum Marian said :
“I cannot recommend Sandra enough. She took on 2 heavily knotted Maine coon cats who were no easy clients and with patience, care and expertise turned them into matt-free and silky-coated felines. Thank you Sandra, we look forward to seeing you again as arranged !”
A really pleasing session all round for such a nervous cat ! Well done Alfie ! We’ll see you again soon.
did you know …?
In ancient Egypt, cats were known as ‘Mau’. Today, there is a breed of cat called the ‘Egyptian Mau’ although they are relatively rare.
Cats were worshiped by the Egyptians and given jewellery in hieroglyphics. It is written that when a cat died, the household would go into mourning and would often shave their eyebrows to signify their loss.
The feelings were such towards cats that killing one, even accidentally, incurred the death penalty.
little oscar
This friendly boy is 10 month old Oscar. Oscar has been with his new mum and day and housemates for just a few weeks. However, you would think he’d always been a fixture, he’s settled in so well….. and he likes nothing better than showing off his tummy and having belly tickles. Hence the photo !
We think that Oscar may well have some Maine Coon in him. He is such a friendly boy, and has a most gorgeous fluffy tail !
Mum is well on top of his brushing. We called in to see him as he was in need of a nail trim and hygiene clip.
As far as we’re aware, this was the first time Oscar had had his nails clipped and he fared very well. It can be a strange sensation for some cats, but sessions do get easier.
After the session mum Eve said :
“A massive thank you to you Sandra! I will and do always highly recom…mend you. After each session I’m always amazed at your patience and professionalism. You are so good with my 3 especially with their nervous nature and me with my ‘over-mothering’! Florence, Tiger-Lily and Oscar are very grateful even if they do kick up a fuss with the occasional swear word and bite, they love you really! Once again thanks Sandra and I look forward to your next visit! 🙂 xx “
Well done Oscar … Lovely to meet you and look forward to seeing you again.
radiant red
One of our little (little ?!) friends Red, the Siberian Forest Cat in Sandbach, Cheshire was recently due his maintenance groom.
Red is such a lovely, friendly, gentle boy. It’s fair to say that he’d rather be playing out in the garden, rather than having his brush out – but he doesn’t put up too much fuss. A little squirmy, but we win him over with lots of sweet talk and cuddles, which he loves !
As usual, Red was carrying lots of the garden around with him in his coat. Lots of sticky bobs and bits of twigs and bracken, and there were one or two small areas underneath that needed some attention.
Afterwards, Red’s coat looked lovely and he felt soft and silky. As soon as his feet hit the floor he was back out through that cat flap, to catch up with the pigeon he’d had his eye on that morning. His accident with a car around 3 months ago hasn’t slowed him down. His foot had healed very nicely and he’s as good as new, even though there’s a metal rod holding it together.
Nice seeing you again, Red. Be good !
