beautiful mishka
Meet a new recruit to our gang – Mishka ! Mishka is around 13 years old, and she lives in Kirkby, Liverpool with her mum.
Mishka has the most incredibly thick coat and now as she’s getting older, she’s not able to look after it quite the same. So, some matted areas had developed – mainly around her lower back and flank area.
Such a friendly, affectionate girl. Mishka came out from her hiding place under the table to say Hello, and to have a good sniff at all the bags and equipment.
We began the session by ridding Miskha of the worst of the matting so as to make her more comfortable on top. Then we worked underneath and pleasingly were able to brush out and save most of this area. We followed this by an incredible brush out and after the session Mishka really did look like she’d lost weight ! See the piccie of the hair that came away !
The little love was so well behaved throughout. It was quite tough going for her in parts but Mishka was very tolerant of the comb so we were able to save much of her upper coat. She really did seem to know from the start what it was all about.
Afterwards, Mishka came over and sat herself down on the settee right next to us. Oh yes – She did look rather pleased with herself !
Well done Mishka, you’ll be feeling so much more comfy now chicky !
our alfie
It was so nice to meet up with 6 year old Maine Coon Alfie again in Flixton, Manchester.
It’s only a matter of weeks since we last saw Alfie, but he was ready for a good brush out again. Only one or two tangles underneath needed to be clipped away, and the rest of his coat benefitted from a good combing.
Alfie is by nature quite a shy young man. However, today he was noticeably less nervous than during our previous sessions. He was very calm and settled, and we know that he did actually enjoy the fuss around the ruff !
Well done, Alfie. Such a brave boy !!
little tessa
It was so nice to call in and meet little Tessa, who lives in Liverpool, Merseyside with her mum.
Tessa is almost 15 years old and has recently suffered from a few health problems and operations.
Although Tessa’s cost isn’t long, Tessa hasn’t been able to keep on top of it like she used to. So, just a few clumps had developed around her sides and lower back. We were able to tease out most of them with fingers and the comb. Just one stubborn area needed to be zipped off with the clippers.
Tessa has had her fair amount of test and being fiddled with over recent months at the vets so she wasn’t too enamoured to find herself at the centre of attention once again. However, she coped very well and afterwards enjoyed lying out in the hallway soaking up with sunbeam for a few minutes before going playing out.
Following the session, mum Anne said :
“Sandra came to visit my beautiful Tess yesterday and attempt to make the clumps of fur disappear.
Sandra was so calming for both myself and Tess, having listened to our horrendous past 6mths – Tess’ diagnosis with a huge brain tumour, operation and recovery period. Sandra was able to remove 90%of the fur clumps by combing through and only had to use clippers on one tiny area. She was extremely patient, calming and reassuring towards Tess who was rather feisty at times to say the least. Within 5 minutes of the procedure Tess was back to her normal laid back self, not appearing to be bothered at all. Thank you Sandra for making the experience for Tess and myself as painless as possible. Tess has allowed me to groom her back and sides today and her coat looks so glossy again. I shall continue to do this daily knowing Tess is unable to reach these areas herself. Kind regards Anne xxxx”
Good girl Tessa … Look after yourself little girl.
march maintenance appointments
It’s that time of the month again when we’re looking at diaries.
We’ll shortly be getting in touch with existing customers who we think may need/want a March maintenance session (that’s March, not Feb).
About 50% of the March slots have already been booked up, so it’s important that you come back to us sooner rather than later if you do want to schedule in, please. It’s becoming increasingly difficult to accommodate everyone so your efficiency would be appreciated !
Of course, if you see this post before we contact you, you can always make the first move !
Remember, our Services are tailored to your little one, in the comfort of their own homes. No road trip necessary !!
little betty
Say a BIG hello to this lovely little girl – 15 month old Betty who lives with her mum in Stockport, Cheshire. She is a red girl and her markings are really striking.
We called in to meet Betty, to have a look at her nails. Betty is a house cat and although she definitely plays a lot (!) she doesn’t wear her nails down the same as an outdoor cat would do.
This was the first time that Betty had had her nails professionally clipped and she was such a good little chick ! She would definitely have still rather been on the floor, playing with the balls of paper – but she fared really well. The dirty deed was over before she knew it and she was back to her games in no time.
Well done Miss Betty … Such a good girl !
gorgeous florry
How nice it was to meet up with Florry in Didsbury, Manchester. Florry has lived with her mum for about 5 years, and we think she’s around 10 years old now.
Although Florry’s coat is short, it is extremely thick. Florry is a little overweight and although she does try to self groom, she finds it difficult to reach her back, shoulders and tail base area. Hence these sections of her coat had become clumpy. We were able to brush out and save the majority of Florry’s coat as she was very tolerant of the comb. There was just a patch that required clipper attention.
We were really pleased with Florry’s interaction during the session. She is not at all keen on mum brushing her so we weren’t quite sure how Florry would react to finding herself on the grooming table. However, after less than a minute on the table she was settled and intently watching for developments in the garden whilst we worked away on her coat. We’d even go as far as saying that Florry enjoyed the attention !
After the session had ended, Florry was just too nosey to stay away. She helped with the tidying up and was evidently very pleased with herself – wanting strokes and affection.
A couple of days after the session mum Alice said :
“Florry is very happy with her new look. She looks lovely. Many thanks and will keep in touch. Best wishes”
Such a good girl – well done Florry ! Now you are clump free, you must let mum comb your coat for you !
handsome teddy
We were recently asked to meet up with 2 year old Teddy.
Teddy is a Persian who lives with his family in Bury, Greater Manchester. Being a Persian, Teddy’s coat is extremely thick, and it had developed mats – mainly underneath.
Teddy is a very sweet guy. However, he didn’t take kindly to finding himself on the grooming table. In fact, he did everything he could think of to make sure the session didn’t go ahead.
Dad helped during the session, trying to distract Teddy whilst we worked through the problem areas. We managed intervals of calm when clipping could take place, and we got there.
All that said, we know that Teddy will now be feeling the benefit of his session, with a full belly clip to start growing his coat again.
After the session we heard from Wendy – Teddy’s grandma :
“You did a lovely job on our little Teddy from Bury. It’s my daughter’s cat but I found your website for him. He’s doing great, Amber said xx”
Fantastic – glad to hear Teddy’s happy with his new coat !
sweet herbie
We called in to see this little fellow again, in Stockport. Who remembers Herbie ??
Herbie is the most gentle chap you could meet. He’s going on 3 years old and lives with his mum (who, by the way adores him !) and his housemate.
We’ve met up with Herbie a few times already and each session is noticeably easier for him. Let’s not beat around the bush. He’d much rather not be sat on the grooming table having his nails clipped – but his does cope very well with the session.
Herbie’s a house cat, so his nails don’t tend to wear down as much as cats that play outside. Fit, healthy cats that spend a lot of time outside generally naturally wear down their claws sufficiently.
However, indoor or elderly cats may need to have their claws trimmed regularly. Also, some cats have an extra toe (polydactyl) which doesn’t touch the ground (just like the normal dew claw) and may overgrow. If overgrown claws aren’t trimmed they can grow inwards into the pad and can be painful, and become infected.
Well done Herbie … Such a good boy !
little georgie
This little chick is Georgie. Georgie is 4 years old and lives in Middleton, Manchester. It’s the first time we’ve met up with this little lady and it’s obvious that she is adored !
Georgie is quite a shy, timid girl. However, she was ever so good on the grooming table. She lay very still and was very compliant and amenable to positioning. Mum helped with sweet talk as we worked on that hard to reach tummy area and rear quarters. However, Georgie really was as good as gold.
During recent times, Georgie has taken to retreating upstairs in a bedroom, preferring her own company (as you know, cats go through fads as to their favourite spot). However, straight after her grooming session she made her way into the sitting room and made herself comfy on the settee !!
A couple of days after the session, mum Elaine told us :
“My very timid cat, Georgie, looked so gorgeous after you’d finished Sandra. I was amazed she let you near her legs. However, your perfect handling and professionalism were the ideal touch. Thank you so much”
You looked a million dollars, Georgie ! Well done sweetie !
little mia
It was so nice to meet up with our little Mia in Nantwich, Cheshire again.
My oh My ..! … Mia’s coat has almost doubled in thickness since the summer time. She looked like a real chunky little lass today. However ….. It was all coat !
We dealt with tangles underneath by taking away some of her coat to give her a fresh start. However, due to the length and thickness of her coat on top, this really wasn’t noticeable when she was on all 4s.
Then we set about a thorough brush out of the rest of her coat – which was quite tough going for Mia, as it was so long and thick (see the piccies of Mia’s long coat, parted during brushing). However, her patience and behaviour was impeccable as always. She even helped out by grooming her ruff, whilst we sorted out her rear quarters !
Well done Miss Mia ! See you again soon young lady ….
