macy moo
We recently met up with Maine Coon Macy again in Manchester for her maintenance session. Macy will be 4 years old in the Spring time, and will be fully grown. Her size has definitely crept up over the last couple of year.
Although we know that Macy’s not keen on finding herself on the grooming table, each session is evidently easier for her. Today she laid very still and calmly throughout. There were one or two swear words, but these were mainly under her breath. We know that Macy doesn’t like her tail being combed, so we’ll forgive her for that particularly rude word !
Macy’s coat had developed a few tangles that we took away – plus a good brush through was on the agenda.
A really good session today, Macy. Well done !!
beautiful bailey
Meet a new addition to our crew …. Bailey ! This handsome fellow is a 9 year old Persian Cross who lives in Alderley Edge Cheshire with his family.
Bailey is a house cat, but he does enjoy a walk outside with mum, on his harness.
We were called in to have a look at Bailey’s coat as he’d begun to develop a few knots under his armpits and chest, where the harness rubs.
Bailey has the most lovely coat. We had a good brush out and worked through the problem areas. Bailey was quite vocal and brought us up to speed with what has been going on in Alderley Edge over recent week !
After the session, mum Anne-Marie said
“Hi Sandra – Just a note to say after you left Bailey chilled all evening, seemed very relaxed and as you advised, he was bonding more than usual. Sitting on me and kneading away. It was lovely to meet you and thanks again for the great work. See you in the New Year”
Well done, Bailey … See you again in a few weeks chicky …. !
the lovely konnie
Who remembers this lovely lady ? Konnie is almost 4 years old now. She’s a Maine Coon and lives in Warrington with her housemate and mum and dad.
Konnie is a hefty girl, but ever so gentle with it. As she’s lying on the grooming table, she likes to growl under her breath, but that’s all. She wouldn’t hurt a fly. What we’ve found over the sessions is that the more we talk to her, the more she responds with a growl. If we’re quiet, so is she. Saying that, Konnie is very clever …because she can growl, knead her paws, close her eyes and smile – all at the same time.
Today, Konnie’s coat was quite thin for the time of year. Mum can and does brush Konnie, and Konnie looks after herself too. It was a short session, but we’re now sure that there’s no knots or tangles going on in there.
Such a good girl Konnie ! Well done chick !
softy sophie
It was time to call in to see Sophie in Knutsford, Cheshire again – as she was due her maintenance groom.
Sophie is a 17 years old Silver Spotted British Shorthair. She is quite a chunky girl, and her coat is extremely plush and dense. Now that she is older and a little arthritic, she finds it more difficult to groom herself. We gave her a thorough brush out to rid her of lots of dead undercoat. .
Sophie is now well used to her sessions and although she’d rather be doing something else, somewhere else (!) she fares very well. Sophie really appreciates cuddles and sweet talk during her groom, with lots of fondling around her cheeks.
Nice meeting up with you again, Sophie and see you soon chick …
sweet harvey
We were asked to meet up with 9 year old Persian Harvey who lives in Newton-le-Willows, Merseyside with his gorgeous 19 year old tabby housemate and family.
Harvey has been with his new family since the summer time. He has fallen on his feet and it seems that he knows it ! Harvey has settled in well and has discovered that he approves of Dreamies !
Today’s session was nails and a hygiene trim. We don’t know if Harvey has had his nails clipped before, but he fared very well. A little fidgety but a good boy. He wasn’t as keen on having his bum tended to, but with some sweet talk from mum he was a very brave boy !
A couple of days after the session, mum Norah said :
“Thank you for coming to groom Harvey, yesterday, especially at such short notice. We were very much impressed with the care and love you portray through your work and all the advice and helpful tips you gave us. Harvey is looking very relaxed and pleased with himself today and obviously appreciates his new coat. We are looking forward to our next session.”
Good stuff, Harvey. See you again in a few weeks time …
lovely saffy
It was time to check in again on 14 year old Saffy in Stockport, Cheshire – to take a look at her nails.
Saffy is a very timid girl and would much rather being doing something else with her time, rather than having her nails tended to. Saying that, as Saffy doesn’t play out very much any longer it’s important to keep a check on them as they can easily overgrow.
With help from mum, we got there. Afterward the session, Saffy actually walked past us 2 or 3 times as we were clearing up the gear. She hasn’t done this before – she usually retreats to the sitting room out of the way – so today was a step forward in terms of her confidence.
handsome herbie
Herbie. A most gorgeous 3 year old Maine Coon who hangs out in Warrington, Cheshire with his housemate and mum and dad.
Remember him ? How could you forget this pretty face !
It is a good few weeks since we last saw Herbie and he’d developed a few knots underneath which we needed to take away with the clippers. The rest of his coat was worked through with the comb and it was definitely ready for it.
Herbie looked really well for it afterwards. We know that Herbie’s not keen on the sessions but despite quite a lot of swearing on his part, he managed to hang it together very well whilst we got on with the job in hand. He obliged with various limbs whilst we worked through his coat. Lots of sweet talk from mum (right into his ear – no exaggeration !) definitely helped.
Well done Herbie – you deserve (and no doubt got) lots of praise !
handsome oscar
Who remembers this young man ? Oscar in Urmston, Manchester. You’d be forgiven for not doing, as last time we only got a good piccie of his belly (as this is what he loves to show off !).
We think that Oscar may well have some Maine Coon in him. Extremely friendly and laid back. He’s now been with his new family for a few months, but he’s definitely a permanent fixture !
Mum is well on top of his brushing. We called in to see him as he was in need of a nail trim and hygiene clip. Oscar was less fidgety than during his first session. We think he remembered what was going on …. and he definitely was pleased with himself after the event, posing for his photo shoot !
A few days after the session, mum Eve said :
“Once again thank you so much Sandra! You’re amazing! And he is definitely a poser, since getting the new sofa, he has claimed the chair as his own, won’t let anyone on it and he puffs his chest out whilst there, haha. He just loves the camera! 🙂 xx”
Well done Oscar, you little beauty !
our tilly
Tilly. A beautiful 3 year old Maine Coon from Blackpool, Lancashire.
She is a big, strong lady with quite a determined view on what is and isn’t acceptable. It’s fair to say that grooming falls into the later category.
However, Tilly knows that the job has to be completed and does manage interludes of calm and quiet, in between her more vocal, energetic (!) moments.
We worked through Tilly’s coat and took away some matted areas from underneath, which she’ll definitely feel better for.
After the session, dad Ron said :
“Well, that’s that. Another session over. She is good, Sandra that is. She has not only managed our Tilly, clumps and all, but she has got my iPad working. I couldn’t get facebook!!! Can you imagine me not being able to get on facebook ! I would so miss this chat. Sandra is just clearing up after another successful do with Tilly. Tilly is not the easiest to deal with, but I am certain that no one else could manage her. So, thanks and see you again soon”
Well done Tilly !
cutie jasmine
Jasmine in Bolton, Greater Manchester contacted us again as she’d developed some knots – mainly underneath and around the rear quarters – which needed attention.
We last saw this 6 year old young lady during the summer for her first session. At that point, Jasmine was quite fidgety during proceedings. Today, she was much more settled and was so patient as we worked on her undercarriage. Basically, Jasmine had a belly clip to make her more comfy and to allow her new coat to grow back from fresh start.
As ever, Jasmine told us a right tale whilst we worked through her coat. She talked about all sorts of things …. What she’d been up to, what she wanted for Christmas, where she was playing out that night …. We just listened and agreed with “That’s right!” and “Ooh, Yes” at the appropriate intervals !
There’s no doubt that Jasmine will feel more comfy, now that she is tangle free.
Well done Jasmine, you were such a good girl.
