norwegian tomas
Say Hi again to Tomas the Norwegian Forest Cat from Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire.
Tomas is almost 13 years old, but looks so much younger. He’s a big guy – and a big softie ! On previous sessions we’ve clipped away some of his coat due to tangles, but today it is regrown. Mum Jo has been able to keep on top of the brushing and today his coat looks gorgeous.
Tomas is a very nervous cat by nature but he was very friendly with us again, and we had lots of cuddles and head rubs and chirrups ! In fact, he couldn’t get enough !
Looking good Tomas … Well done ! You look like a spring chicken, never mind 13 years old !
trusting ted
This gorgeous Maine Coon from Tockholes, Lancashire is the most gentle boy you could meet. He is a little nervous of strangers, but we soon learned to trust each other during our session.
Ted’s coat needed a good work through. It was matted in places and the rest was thick and needed a good brush out. He was very patient, and a model customer. We think he understood what was happening, and he was quite amenable with his positioning on the table.
He’ll definitely feel better with his new coat, which will be so much easier for him to manage. Well done Ted – you were such a good boy !
Following the session, dad Nick said :
“Just to say how delighted I was with the grooming of Ted, my 16 month old Maine Coon. An inveterate outdoor cat, he is forever tangled up and full of lugs, and doesn’t appreciate being combed. I was really impressed with Sandra’s handling of him, I wouldn’t have believed anyone could have got him to permit such an extensive brushing and clipping. Even Ted looks rather proud of his appearance now.”
Thanks Nick … For us, it was really nice to work with such a big, gentle boy.
Ted is only 16 months old. Maine Coons don’t reach maturity / full growth until around 4 or 5 years. He’s going to be quite a size !
sweaty paws
Cats have a few cooling mechanisms – such as panting, or licking their fur (which put saliva on the fur which in turn cools them as it evaporates).
However, unlike humans, they don’t have sweat glands all over the body.
holly and poppy
We were delighted to call and see two of our gorgeous regular customer in Padiham, Lancashire.
Holly (black) was due her maintenance brush out. Holly is quite a nervous girl by nature but she’s now used to the session and laid patiently whilst we combed away – even if she was vocal with it ! Not a knot or tangle in sight, although her coat was thick – especially around the flanks and ruff – and ready for a good session.
Miss Poppy …. Well, you couldn’t meet a more laid back lady ! She doesn’t bat an eyelid whilst her nails are being clipped – and then wants cuddles and affection. The more the better !
A couple of days after the sessions, mum Jackie told us :
“Holly is looking great. Her coat is lovely and shiny and she’s happy ! She looks so proud of herself”
See you again soon girls….. Be good !
did you know …?
Unlike us humans, cats don’t not need to blink their eyes on a regular basis to keep their eyes lubricated.
Cats do, however, “squint” their eyes. This is usually as a form of communication – expressing ease and affection around another cat or human.
Staring at your cat without blinking will make him/her uneasy, whilst slowly blinking will help to ease him/her. Why not give it a try if you sense your cat is nervous or upset …
nosey rosie
Rosie – we told you we’d call you Nosey ! When we arrived Rosie happily had a nosey at all the equipment – she just couldn’t resist !
This lovely 2 year old Persian needed a good work through her coat to relieve her of mats and dead hair. We took some areas away with the clippers, but they are well hidden as her hair is so long, and the coat so thick.
Rosie is probably one of the most laid back Persians we’ve ever worked with. She quickly got used to the clipper noise and sensation, and wasn’t in the least bit afraid. It was a long session, and she spent considerable time ‘helping’. While we were working at the back end, she was washing the front ! Thanks Rosie ! Afterwards, she was full of head rubs and purrs.
Later, mum Fiona from Thornton Cleveleys, Lancashire said :
“A big thank you to EssentiallyPurrfect who saved my beautiful Persian cat today. The lady spent 3 hours tending to my moggy who was matted up to the hilt. She was punctual, professional and very lovingly cared for my cat. She was good company and worked hard. She sweated blood and tears so to speak and was worth every penny. I wish I had found her years ago.”
Thanks for such lovely feedback, Fiona …. and so nice to meet you, Rosie !
puss puss
Puss is a really bonny 6 year old semi long haired tabby girl, who lives in Preston, Lancashire. She has been suffering with hairballs, so our Services were called in to clip her coat.
Puss is quite timid, and she was very uneasy with the clippers – especially near her head. We took away the hair from her torso and left her with her coat around her upper body.
A couple of days after the session, mum Lorren said :
“Thank you so much for your patience with my grumpy Puss. She’s taken to her new haircut brilliantly and it didn’t take long for her to realise that cuddles are better now. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend you.”
Well done Puss – you weren’t really grumpy, just timid – but a very brave girl !
did you know …?
If yours drink from the tap, or from your glass – or even from the toilet (dangerous, chemicals !) – try moving their water bowl away from their food, and see if it makes a difference.
If it works, why not let us know on facebook ….
hercules champion
It was nice to see one of our regular customers – Hercules Champion in Kirkham, Lancashire – again.
Hercules Champion is a 14 year old Maine Coon who has a regular appointment schedule to keep on top of his thick coat. Today it lovely to see him looking so relaxed about the whole proceedings. He didn’t bat an eyelid as we clipped his nails, and began to comb underneath.
He had a few tangles starting to form, so the appointment was well timed – but it was nice that we were able to brush them out, and the clippers weren’t necessary. The hair that had been clipped on previous appointments is growing back nicely and he’s now well on his way to a full coat again.
After the session he curled up by the fire, and settled down for a well earned kip ! Well – all that brushing does tire a boy out !
Mum Gerry later said :
“Hercules is so happy now after his groom. He looks content, so much younger and his coat is looking really well.”
See you again soon, Hercules Champion !
