little lily
We were asked to call round to meet up again with 8 year old Persian Chinchilla Lily in Horwich, Bolton, Greater Manchester. Lily lives with mum and dad, and 46 year old Cockatoo Chalky.
We saw Lily this time last year. At that point her coat was quite matted and much of it was removed to make her more comfy. Lily’s coat re-grew during the following months, quite beautifully, and mum and dad were able to comb and keep on top of it. However as Lily’s coat reached full re-growth and then became thicker for the winter months, it began to get out of hand. A few knots and tangles soon became mats, which in turn developed into a pelt covering much of Lily’s body.
Therefore at our visit this time, we took away the majority of Lily’s coat. It was a tough session as the pelt was so tight to the skin and covered most of her body. Lily was fidgety, but not as much so as last year. She obviously knew from the start just what was going on and she did her little best to remain still and calm.
Immediately after the session, Lily spent the next half hour washing and reaching parts of her body she hadn’t seen for a while. She obviously felt an immediate relief, which was so pleasing to see.
After the session, we had a chat about Lily’s coat and we feel that if Lily’s was to have at least a couple of brush outs per year – Spring and Autumn during the big moults – this will help reduce the possibility of this happening again.
Looking forward to seeing you later in the year, little girl !
