Here’s a new girl to join our gang .. Saffron – or Saffy on a weekday !

Quite a cautious girl is 5 year old Saffy in Oldham, Greater Manchester. She sat behind the back door, wanting to go out whilst we were setting up. She knew it was all about her !

Saffy’s coat was a little clumpy on her sides and flanks. Most of it brushed out. Just a couple of small areas needed to be removed with the clippers.

Afterwards ? Back sat behind the back door, wanting to go out. Not phased, just determined !

Well done Saffy !

sophie’s teddy clip

You may remember we said that next time we met up with Persian Sophie in Burnley, Lancashire we were going for a Clip ?

Sophie is now almost 2 yrs old. She’s not keen on being brushed. She really doesn’t like her grooming sessions.

We used to just have a brush out. Then we moved to a Belly Clip and brush out – to make life easier between sessions for mum. Today, we had a Teddy Clip (not as neat and smooth as a Lion Clip – a tiny bit more length left on, with a more rugged appearance).

Sophie didn’t care for that either, but she managed to keep her calm for the most part of the session.

We do know, however, that since we met up Sophie has been more playful and energetic. That 20 minute mad period in the evening has now turned into an hour ! (Is that good or bad ?!).

We’re going to keep Sophie’s coat short, so we will meet up again in a few weeks time for another Clip.

miss ginger

We met up with a new lady in Manchester recently.

18 year old Ginger had developed a lot of tufting and matting in her coat, which needed attention.

We took away a large section which couldn’t be saved – lower back, rear, sides and inner thighs – which was no easy task as Ginger has lost weight over recent years and she is very slight. However, we saved the coat where possible, even though it was scarce and patchy, as we wanted to keep Ginger as warm as possible,

Well done Ginger. We’re sure your coat will grow back just lovely !

chinchilla bola

Bola. Persian. 6 years old. Pretty. Chinchilla. Preston. Lancashire.

Who remembers Bola ?

We met up for our maintenance session to work through Bola’s thick coat. There was definitely a winter feel about it ! Much thicker around the flanks and rear end than on our last visit a few weeks ago.

Bola was quite chilled today – along the Bola sliding scale of things ! She lay patiently whilst we worked through. Not a knot in sight as both mum and she have kept well on top of the situation.

… and afterwards ? Again, chilled whilst she sat and watched all the gear being packed away.

Well done miss Bola !! See you again in a few weeks time !

friendly garfield

Garfield in the most handsome, friendly, noseeeeeey boy in Bolton !!

He came downstairs just to see what was going on and subsequently investigated all the bags and gear.

All very friendly. However, not as chuffed about life when he realised that it was his coat which was the subject matter of all the kerfuffle.

Garfield’s coat was matted down his back and rear end. We took some away with the clippers and brushed out the rest of his coat under protest. Garfields’s tummy hair is so wavy – like it’s been crimped !

Afterwards ? Back to his loving, friendly, gentle self. It was just as though nothing had happened !

We called in again to see Tilley in Bolton, Greater Manchester. It’s believed that Tilley is a Ragdoll cross. Any thoughts, anyone ?

Since we last met up in the summer, dad has been doing a sterling job keeping on top of 9 year old Tilley’s coat. No lugs, but obviously thicker around the top of her flanks and rear (which is a no-go zone).

As gentle as ever, Tilley was very calm whilst we worked through her coat. We’d go as far to say that she actually enjoyed parts of it. In fact, we know she did. Extremely chatty … and chatty … and chatty …. goodness, would she ever stop …. ! There’s so much going on in Bolton !

Well done Tilley ! Looking good, chick !

lovely tigger

Come and meet Tigger from Bury, Greater Manchester ! Tigger has just turned 1 year old and he’s a Persian.

Tigger’s ultra high maintenance coat had become pelted in places, so we decided that a fresh start would be the best option all round on his torso.

Although Tigger was fidgety, he was as good as gold. He managed to lie on his side in short bursts, and where possible we did a lot of the clipping stood up.

It was fantastic to hear from mum a couple of days after the session

“Thank you so much for the excellent grooming session with Tigger last week. He was badly matted and had been a bit subdued for a few weeks. Thanks to your skill and patience, he now has a lovely lion cut and is strutting round the house like a new cat – he is playing more, grooming himself regularly and generally showing his new haircut off at every opportunity ! Thanks again Sandra, you have worked magic”

After the session, Tigger could not believe his new silky body and set about the biggest self groom session in the history of Bury ! Sooo pleased you’re a happy little Persian, Tigger … !

You can see how big his coat was, and that it wasn’t at all laying smoothly to his body. He was weighed down in body and mind.

mister malty

We called in once again to meet up with Malty who is a Siberian Forest Cat who lives in Bispham, Lancashire.

Malty is such a friendly young man – but he’s not keen on being groomed. Particularly not his tummy, thank you very much !

We clipped away a few lumps and bumps from under there, and the rear quarters to make Malty more comfy, followed by a brush out to help prevent mats forming going forward.

Malty would have rather have been doing something else, but he managed to chill at times whilst we got on with the job in hand. A much more settled session than last time, which goes with our theory that sessions in general do get easier for the chicks.

A few days after the session, mum Bex said :

“Malty is much happier now he’s had his groom and you’ve sorted his fur … and mega affectionate ! xxx”

Jemima (or Jemba) the Ragdoll was due her maintenance groom recently. At 4 years old, Jemba lives with her daughters (!) and family in Eccles, Manchester.

Such a sweet, friendly inquisitive girl, she watched with interest as all the gear was set up. She knew what was going on alright.

Jemba’s coat was in good condition. Just a couple of small knots underneath were taken away followed by a brush out. Fidgety ? Fidgety !

However, we know that she will feel much comfier know her coat is thinner and ready for winter. Well done Jemima !

siberian red

Here’s our Siberian Forest Cat friend Red – chilling out on the grooming table at the end of his session. Who remembers Red ?

Red is 2 years old and he lives in Sandbach, Cheshire. He’s a happy little (little ?) soul – playing out and about in the twigs, brambles, mud, sicky bobs and everything else that can stick to a long, fluffy coat. Hence, he’s always ready for his session.

… and he’s always a good boy !
