not so chunky
We met a new chick called Chunk recently.
Chunk is 13 years old, and he’s a Turkish Van (or a cross ?). He lives with his canine housemate and family in Weeton, Lancashire.
As the years have gone by, Chunk’s self grooming has reduced and his semi long coat had become very tufty and matted all around his body, with a pelt down both sides of his back.
Vocal ? VOCAAAAAAL !!!!! We have never heard such a loud cry / meow / yowl ?? – Not sure what to call it ? – from a cat. Chunk is vocal all the time. When he’s sat minding his own business. When you talk to him. When you’re in bed upstairs, and he’s in bed downstairs. It’s an incredible sound and the next door neighbours could be forgiven for thinking he’s being murdered !
We took away what needed to come off, and left him with as much of the remainder of his coat as possible. Chunk really wasn’t keen on us working underneath, but we got there over a couple of sessions.
After the session, mum Lisa said
“Chunk seems happier already. Brushed him with the back of the comb … He’s much happier – the kids noticed it too”
We know that Chunk will be feeling much comfier. Here’s a piccie of him about 3 weeks after his session and his coat is really starting to grow back already.
miss tilly
11 year old Tilly in Preston, Lancashire looks more and more radiant each time we see her.
Tilly has had her share of health problems, but all is under control and mum and dad report that since we’ve got on top of her coat – and see her for regular sessions – that she is blossoming !
Really pleasing to hear and another gentle session, with Tilly outstretching various limbs to help matters !
lovely lizzie
Lizzie was a very good girl during her recent brush out session in Altrincham, Cheshire.
Lizzie’s a tabby Maine Coon and she’s around 6 years. Who remembers Lizzie ?
Absolutely nothing to worry about, Lizzie’s coat was in tip top condition. Both she and mum have done well to keep on top of the brushing so well.
We combed through underneath laid down, but Lizzie was much happier sat on all 4s whilst we worked through the rest of her coat. Not a bad bone in this chick’s body and much more settled this session. Lizzie obviously remembered and had taken on board that actually – it wasn’t that bad !
Really well done Lizzie … Such a star !
pretty alice
Here’s young Alice from Stockport, Cheshire.
Alice is a 5 year old Ragdoll/Persian cross who lives with her sister and housemate – and human family, of course.
A very gentle girl – with a thick coat ! Mum has done a great job of keeping on top of Alice’s coat since we last met up. Today was mostly about a good brush out, and working through a couple of ad-hoc knots and tangles. The thickest part of Alice’s coat was around her shoulders/neck area, where it was just about beginning to clump a little.
Although a little fidgety, Alice was such a good girl during our session. We had lots of chat whilst we worked through.
Well done Alice !!
cutie dexter
such a champion

the maine man

mr scrag
17 year old Scrag asked us to call in to see him in Stockport, Cheshire as he’d developed mats and clumps in his coat.
Scrag is a short haired guy, but as he’s grown older he has stopped self grooming – which is often the case.
He was quite subdued when he found himself on the grooming table, but coped very well. However, we decided to split Scrag’s session over 2 visits as he really wasn’t keen on us working on his tummy – and there was quite a lot of work to do under there.
On the 2nd visit, mum reported that Scrag had much more mojo ! Mary said
“…. Scrag would like to say a big thank you to you for grooming him. He’s feeling like a new cat (jumping up all over the place again!).”
He certainly was walking around the kitchen with more intent and swagger …… and nosey ? Yes – Nosey !
So pleased you’re feeling comfier, Scrag – Well done !
razzle tazzle
Tazzle the Ragdoll lives in Stockport, Cheshire. You remember him, right ?
Tazzle is about 5 years old now and he’s the most laid back chappy you could meet. Such a loving, gentle boy.
It’s around 10 months since we last saw Tazzle and he and his mum have been keeping on top of his coat so well.
Just a couple of tangles were unpicked with the hands and the rest of his coat was nicely brushed out.
Following the session, mum Maria said
“Tazzle looked amazing, just like his father and Bella was definitely inspired to groom herself much more than usual. I’ve been trying to keep on top of Alice’s beautiful fur coat by brushing her everyday; as like you said it’s as thick as Tazzle and Bella’s combined!”
(Bella and Alice’s story will follow). Well done big man !
pretty misty
Misty was a happy little Maine Coon chick when we visited her in Oldham, Greater Manchester this time around.
We call on Misty regularly to keep on top of her coat, and she was really thickening up for winter at this visit !
Friendly and playful as ever, we had a good brush out and removed a couple of lugs from here and there.
Nice seeing you Misty !
