cola and holly
We called on 2 short haired ladies who were in need of a clip, to reduce allergy symptoms of daughter A.
Cola (black) is a little babe at just over 1 year old. Absolutely beautiful and a lovely disposition to go with it. She hadn’t been clipped before and although a little fidgety, she was really brave and compliant whilst we set about a Full Clip. Her little body was a grey-ish velvet when we’d finished !
Her housemate Holly (tabby) is quite a nervous lady of around 12 years old and has stunning markings and a really plush coat. Holly is nervous of sudden noises in general, and the clippers weren’t her favourite. We clipped away what was possible, without wanting to upset Holly. The finished result was a partial clip. She has, however, gained a full Lion tail !
Following the sessions, mum Janine from Heysham, Lancashire later sent us feedback to say :
“Thank you so much for your time and patience with Holly and Cola yesterday. You have a wonderful way with animals !! We will look forward to looking on your website – the pictures are lovely. They are both as happy and content as ever with their new super look !!”
You have two lovely girls there Janine and A … and they both did so well between them !
bonny from garsdale close, walton-le-dale
Remember Bonny ? Bonny is a lovely 17 year old lass from Preston who we groomed a couple of months ago.
We’re very sad to hear today that Bonny has been missing from her home in Garsdale Close, Walton-le-Dale for the past 11 days. She went out of the house as usual, but didn’t return. Bonny isn’t one to travel very far as a matter of course.
Posters/leaflets in the area haven’t led to any sightings to date.
Have you seen Bonny ? If you live in the Walton-le-Dale area, please keep an eye open for her. Please check all sheds / lock-ups etc / under your car / your garden etc.
Bonny is so dearly loved by her family, who are missing her terribly.
bonny barney
A rather bonny, 2 year old lad called Barney asked us to call and have a look at his coat, which had developed some matting around the rear quarters. The rest of his coat was in lovely condition – all it required was a good brush out.
Barney was quite fidgety and a little nervous of the clippers. Into the session he did settle down, when he realised nothing terrible was going to happen ! Afterwards, Barney was very friendly and gave us a little rub before we left.
Mum Lorraine from Macclesfield, Cheshire later said :
“A very big thank you to Sandra. She visited this morning and worked on Barney who had got himself in a terrible state, after wandering into the pond mud in the field next door. I had previously tried unsuccessfully to sort his matted fur out and he must have been very uncomfortable around his rear end (sorry!). Barney got himself stressed out and didn’t like being worked on but Sandra continually talked to him to keep him as calm as possible. After he had been clipped and groomed, he sat on the table whilst Sandra combed him down and finally, Barney relaxed and sat on the table as good as gold. He is now much happier and has spent the last few hours cleaning his coat and is now chilling in the chair!! Thank you Sandra!”
Great to hear that Barney is already feeling much better … Thanks Lorraine – and well done Barney ! Nice pose !
konnie and herbie
We were delighted to meet up again with two of our favourite Maine Coons, Konnie and Herbie, from Warrington.
These beauties are between 2 – 2 ½ years old, and are already x-large babes. They have definitely grown since our last visit a couple of months ago ! At maturity (5 years) males of this breed can be around 25lb (11kg), and females can reach 15lb (6.8kg). Large and heavy !
Konnie (tabby) obviously remembered the last session, and was much more settled right through this time. She didn’t mind her nails being trimmed, and lay patiently whilst she had a real good brush out. If you remember, we didn’t manage to get a photo of Konnie at the last session. Not camera shy at all, today ! Here she is looking like a little minx ! In fact after the photo shoot we had to politely ask her to leave the table !
Herbie (red) …. Quite a fidget, but he managed to comply with the session. He had a good brush out and will definitely feel the benefit of losing all that hair. Herbie is such a gentle giant, and boy does he love those Dreamies !
Well done both of you ….. You did really well. Can’t wait to see you again in a couple of months time.
miss misty
Misty is a 17 year old lady, who needed our Services. Her short/semi-long hair had become matted, particularly down her back and sides and the rest of her coat was thick and clumpy – in need of a real good work through. We saved what we could and gave the rest of her body a short clip. The amount of dead hair that came away was immense, and she will definitely reap the rewards straight away.
Here’s the hair that came away ….
Misty’s dad had told us that she no longer grooms herself, so we were hoping that this session would give her a new lease of life and put that spring back in her step ! She certainly looked 5 years younger at the end of the grooming process !
A few days after the session, dad David from Chorley, Lancashire told us :
“Since Misty’s groom, she likes to be stroked down her back – where the mats used to be. When I stop stroking her, she touches my face to do it again. Misty is 17 years old, but the groom has taken years off her. She is now so content !”
It’s so pleasing to hear that Misty is feeling so good about herself, and we can’t wait to meet up with her again in 3 months time to keep on top of her coat ….
radiant rosie
We recently met up with this 11 year old tortie Maine Coon, to help work through her thick coat. It had become matted in places, and needed a brush out elsewhere. Maine Coons are a large breed with females easily reaching 15lb (6.8kg) at maturity, and they have long, flowing coats.
Although quite nervous, Rosie let us clip away what couldn’t be saved without too much of a fuss. We felt from the start that she understood the session was for her benefit, and she’ll definitely feel much cooler now she no longer carries her mats.
Following the session, Rosie went to the food station for a quick top up, before checking out what she’d missed in garden whilst she’d been otherwise occupied !
Later that day, Mum Ruth from Skipton, North Yorkshire said :
“What an amazing transformation, Rosie had such a badly knotted coat, no problem for Sandra, she just got to work and we now have a different cat. She is so much happier without her knots and her coat is gleaming. She has spent lots of time in the sunshine washing and purring. Thanks so much Sandra from both Rosie and her Mum”.
Here is Rosie, relaxing in her garden shortly after the session. It’s so pleasing for us to see such an immediate positive result in terms of Rosie’s mood. It just goes to show, the condition of the coat really does affect health and wellbeing. Well done Rosie, you were such a good girl !
milo and illy
Two Siamese beauties – Milo and Illy from Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire – recently called us in to check out their claws and trim them down. (They are housemates to Tomas the Norwegian Forest Cat).
Milo is a 6 years old Blue Point (pictured on the left), and Illy is Caramel Point at just 3 years old. Both are extremely handsome chaps – nervous about the proceedings, but they behaved well.
Good boys ! See you again in a couple of months time ….
timid tomas
This lovely Norwegian Forest Cat from Oswaldtwistle, Hyndburn, Lancs is 12 years old, although he looks much younger. His beautiful red coat had become a little matted in places so we tidied him up a little with the clippers, and brushed out the rest of him.
Tomas is a very shy boy, who is nervous of strangers. He coped well with the session, and then promptly went to fill up at the food station …. which took his mind off events immediately !
easygoing elsa
Elsa is such a lovely natured, 2 years old, young tortie lady. Her colouring is spectacular.
She is very friendly and loving, and enjoys mum brushing her – which is evident from her well maintained coat. The coat is very thick, and very long – but between them they’re doing a fantastic job !
Our Services were called upon to give Elsa’s coat a thorough brush out, to relieve her of dead undercoat which had accumulated and remove a couple of small tangles. Elsa hadn’t been professionally groomed before, but she soon got the idea and relaxed on the table – even ‘helping’ by stretching her front legs up above her head to allow easy access to her armpits ! Such a clever girl !
Following the session, mum Janice from Stockport, Gtr Manchester said :
“Sandra has just visited my indoor cat Elsa, she is long haired and I had found a few knots in her fur and she wouldn’t let me brush them out, thank goodness for Sandra, she has worked wonders with Elsa, who now has the most lovely coat. I would recommend Sandra to everyone and the fact that she comes to your home is so much better for your cat.”
Lovely working with Elsa, Janice. Beautiful girl ! …
monkey man
This lovely lad is a 7 year old called Monkey.
We’d been called in to look at a few mats that had developed around his sides and flanks, and to give him a good brush out elsewhere. We feel that Monkey quickly realised what the session was all about, and although he grumbled his way through it (!), his behaviour was impeccable.
After the session Monkey took the opportunity to sit outside in the sunshine – and began grooming those areas which just a couple of hours earlier he hadn’t been able to work through. We’re sure he must be feeling so much better about his bod now, and we would love to know what his girlfriend down the road thinks !
Monkey is an affectionate boy, and loves a good stroke. He came back to us for a quick fondle, after his groom. A thank you, maybe ?! Later, mum Sue from Clitheroe, Lancashire said :
“It was only yesterday when you came to groom Monkey, our long haired cat. He has been so relaxed since your visit, letting us stroke and comb him in those “no go” areas along his sides where he had all those tufts and mats of fur. I really appreciated you coming to our home so that Monkey wasn’t stressed by a journey. You were so calm, gentle and competent with him, I could see he was in safe hands. Thanks for the helpful advice too ! I won’t hesitate to contact you if Monkey needs professional grooming again. I’m sending you a photo of him relaxing in the sunshine. With best wishes”
… and here is the photo …..
Such a good boy, Monkey !
