3 little chicks …
It’s a Friday Fact that we’re so far behind showing you our stories and piccies of the lovely babes we’ve met up with, it’s crazy !
It was time to call in to see our friends in Urmston, Manchester for their regular nail trimming session.
These 3 little chicks are so sweet. We have Tiger-Lily and Florence, both Oriental Mix – and Oscar who is a Maine Coon cross. Although they are not struck on the idea, the sessions have become easier for them over time and today’s was without event.
Oscar is a newer addition to the family but you’d think he’d been with them all along, he’s settled in that well. Everyone gets along just fine !
See you again later in the year folks …
beautiful bailey
Another visit to our friend Bailey in Alderlry Edge, Cheshire recently.
Bailey is a Persian cross, and has the most gorgeous, thick coat you can imagine. Both he and his family maintain it well but it tends to get tangled underneath the armpits and chest, where his harness rubs.
Sessions are definitely getting easier for Bailey and although today he’d still rather have been playing out, we had significant periods of calm between the escape attempts !
We took away a few small areas underneath and brushed out the rest of his coat. A little lighter for Spring !
It was nice seeing you again Bailey and looking forward to meeting up again a few weeks time.
our friend red
Red. 2 years old. Siberian Forest Cat. Sandbach. Cheshire. Remember him ?
As a Siberian at this time of the year, Red has the most thick of coats. Lots and lots of it ! This – on top of Red’s love to play in the bracken and twigs – makes for a more difficult to manage coat.
As always, Red was fidgety to begin with during the session. However, as we progressed he became more settled. He loves to use his forelegs to clamp – and hangs on and snuggles up to the arms that’s combing him. Don’t know if this is his unique way of him trying to stop the process – or if he really does just want to snuggle ! Either way, we have a chat and stroke for a minute or so, before continuing with his brushout.
We thought we may have turned a corner at today’’s session, but it seemed he was still hanging on to much of that winter coat.
Lovely seeing you again Red !
sweet alfie
Here’s Alfie ! A big welcome to our club !
At almost 10 years old, Alfie is a Red Persian from Tarleton, Lancashire, where he lives with his housemate and family. Being a Persian, Alfie has the most incredibly thick coat. Especially at this time of year, when it was holding so much dead winter hair.
Alfie had developed a pelt down his back and sides. He had begun trying to remove it himself and the skin was a little sore in patches. He also had matted areas around his flanks and rear end.
It was a fidgety session, but Alfie really seemed to know what we were doing, and why. The pelt came away slowly from his back as it was very thick and tight to the skin. Alfie fared very well and it was a relief to see it unattached to his body. We ceased the session for the day at that point, and met up again a few days later to complete the clipping around the lower legs and rear, and to brush out Alfie’s remaining coat.
After the session, mum Sue said
“Alfie our Persian had his final visit today from EssentiallyPurrfect and he is looking and feeling fantastic. Thanks so much for your time and patience you have done a wonderful job xx”
Big cheers for Alfie ! Well done friend !
our herbie
Three year old Herbie in Warrington, Cheshire was due his maintenance groom.
Maine Coon Herbie really does not enjoy his sessions. He’s becoming a little more tolerant of mum combing him, but doesn’t let her underneath or around his rear quarters very much.
We removed a couple of lugs from Herbie’s trousers but the rest of his coat just required a comb through.
Well done ! See you again in a few weeks time Herbie !
hercules champion
We had a very gentle session with our 16 year old friend Maine Coon Hercules Champion in Kirkham, Lancashire.
After the upset of moving house, Hercules Champion once again seems really settled and happy with life. He’s back to his old ways of staying out for chunks of the night and his health is on track.
Just one or 2 tangles were worked through and the rest of his coat was brushed out. His coat was looking the best we’ve seen it in a while.
Well done Hercules Champion …. Keep up with good work young man !
pretty neytiri
Meet Neytiri – a pretty 4 year old Maine Coon from Bury, Greater Manchester.
Neytiri was under the couch when we arrived, and wasn’t really for coming out. However, once on the grooming table, listening to our music and chat, she began to relax. At one point we think she was actually dozing !
Mum Julie later said
“My Maine Coon cat, Neytiri, is not one to be handled well. She was very knotty, so I called Sandra for her help ! She was so lovely and reassuring that Neytiri was at ease and even seemed to enjoy the grooming !! I would highly recommend Sandra. Thanks Julie x”
So pleased we were able to help Neytiri, Julie – and so pleased she’ll be feeling much happier with her new bod !
friendly noodle
We called in to see two lovely chicks in Prenton on The Wirral recently.
Noodle is around 15 years old and had developed a matted coat – mainly down his back, sides and flanks. Underneath just needed a comb through. Noodle couldn’t tolerate any amount of resistance with the comb, so there was no option but to clip away all of the offending area. He needed lots of breaks during the session, and came back refreshed which enabled a few minutes more clipping. He will certainly feel like a new man whilst his coat is regrowing.
Noodle’s half sister Lily was also matted in a similar way. Lily’s a year older, at 16 and a bonny girl. Unfortunately we didn’t manage a decent photo of her to show you.
Well done chicks. It was a warm afternoon and you fared really well !
chrystal and sooty
Say Hi to two new babes to join us – Chrystal and Sooty from Bury, Greater Manchester.
Chrystal (piccie on the left) is still a baby really at just 10 months old. She is a British Short Hair, and is soooo cute. Chrystal is quite timid of strangers and it took her some time to be tempted for a quick stroke. Her favourite chicken helped !
Sooty is 17 years old. He is a very friendly guy and enjoys nothing more than a snooze these days.
Today was just about a nail trim for both Chrystal and Sooty. Chrystal’s nails are still small and kitten-ish – whilst Sooty’s are so remarkably different. As an older chap, Sooty’s nails are very thick and long. They both fared very well.
Well done chicks !
miss molly
Today was Exotic Shorthair Molly’s first professional groom. Molly hangs out in Hale, Cheshire and is just 9 months old.
Molly’s a timid girl so we took a few minutes to talk to her and get to know her before the session. Once on the grooming table, Molly was squirmy to begin with but once we’d finished combing underneath she settled very nicely into the session.
Her coat was holding a lot of excess hair, although no mats in sight. It was particularly thick around the flanks and shoulders/neck. Lots of dead hair came away and no doubt that Molly will be feeling much comfier now. We also took a little hair away from Molly’s rear quarters as sometimes going to the loo causes problems.
After the session, mum Lindsey said
“Sandra, thank you so much for your time and patience with Molly. Your calm, soothing manner helped put her so at ease – so much so she seemed to be enjoying it. I was so worried she would be stressed but not at all !! Would not hesitate to recommend you and look forward to seeing you again in a few months time “
