miss molly
Miss Molly in Urmston, Manchester asked us to call in for a maintenance session. Molly is 7 years old now. We’re not sure, but we think she has some Burmese in her. What do you think ?
Each session is definitely becoming easier for Molly. Still fidgety – Oh yes ! – but nothing compared with her first session.
Molly’s coat is only short but it’s extremely dense and was definitely ready for a brush out. Not matted, but particularly thick around her flanks and neck/shoulder area.
Well done Molly ! See you again for your Autumn brush out chick.
our friend radek
It’s always nice to call in on Radek in Newton-le-Willows, Merseyside. You’ll probably recognise him as we meet up with him regularly to keep on top of his thick Persian coat
Radek was extremely chilled today, which made for a relaxing session. It seems that he’s lost most of his winter coat now, so in that respect it was an easier session.
After the groom, mum Lorraine said
“Just had a fantastic session with Sandra, I feel like we’ve made excellent progress with keeping on top of Radek’s coat, and must say a big thanks to Sandra for her tips and patience dealing with him, he can be quite a tricky customer !!! Sandra has that perfect balance of being professional with a caring, personal touch”
Thanks Lorraine ! Well done Radek !
dinky dolly
We met up again with the lovely Persian cross Dolly in Carnforth, Lancashire.
Mum and dad had really been keeping on top of Dolly’s coat and it was in great condition. Just a few tangles were worked through, followed by a good brush out.
Dolly is used to her sessions and despite anything she may tell you, she certainly enjoyed herself. She loves the music we play for her, and as we were combing – she was washing herself. All around her chest and bib, and front legs. The faster the comb, the faster she washed. Going to try to get this on film next time as it really was quite comical !
Well done, Dolly. It was a really nice session.
chilled tilly
Meeting up again with Tilly in Preston, Lancashire was a real pleasure.
Tilly is 10 years old, and was feeling her age a little when we first met her a few weeks ago. She’d had some health problems and her coat needed a good work through. At that first session we took away some of her coat around her lower torso and rear quarters, and gave her a good brush through. It was quite a work through. Today, the clipped area re-growth looked really well.
So, today was all about a brush out to rid of dead hair and to keep on top of her now easier to manage coat. Although it’s only a few weeks since we met up, Tilly was certainly ready for today’s session. She has a thick coat and it was good brush out to thin her out again.
Last time, Tilly was a little fidgety. Today – Well, read on …. After the session, mum and dad Deb and Darren said
“Hi Sandra, what a great session for Tilly. I know the first session was a long one and she got a little stressed, but we coped. To see the difference this week was unbelievable. She lay with her head in my hand snoring and purring her little head off. Lifting her legs and arms for you for groom her. She is a changed cat. She’s gone from never going out to never coming in. She seems to have a new lease of life. It’s as if we have our little monkey back all loving and purring. See you in another 6 weeks. Thanks Darren and Deb”
Fantastic ! Really pleased that Tilly has regained her mojo !
friendly zebedee
Our friend Zebedee called us up again to schedule an appointment for a manicure.
Zebedee (or Zebee) is now almost 15 years old and is found to hang out in Altrincham, Cheshire.
A real gentle fellow, Zebee lost his sight about 28 months ago, but has adapted well and manages to move around indoors okay.
The sessions don’t phase him one bit. In fact, he loves all of the attention. Nice meeting up with you again, Zebee !
british sophie
We visited British Short Hair (BSH) Sophie in Knutsford Cheshire once again for her maintenance groom. Sophie will be 18 years old this autumn.
Sophie suffers from arthritis and no longer self grooms like she used to. As a BSH, her coat is extremely dense and plush and needs a good brush out to relieve her of all that dead hair sat there. If it’s not brushed out, Sophie coat begins to get clumpy.
Today Sophie’s coat was extra thick. It’s a good few weeks since we last met up with her and she was more than ready for her session and no doubt she’s feeling much lighter now !
Nice seeing you again Sophie !
gorgeous gregg
This chick is 4 year old Gregg who we believe is a Persian cross.
Gregg has had quite a life so far, having been rescued by his mum from the streets of Qatar. She arranged for all the necessary jabs and paperwork and flew him over for a new life in Burscough, Lancashire.
It’s fair to say that Gregg has settled in to his new home. Oh yes – he’s fully in charge, for sure.
Gregg’s coat is naturally long and full. Lots of it ! We decided to clip him back, as we thought this would make him lighter and happier. Gregg has been clipped once before in Qatar, but this was under sedation – so we weren’t sure just how he would react to the session.
We began very well. Gregg wasn’t in the least bit afraid of the clippers, which we tested out underneath before beginning to work on his back. He was very still, calm and compliant. Until he decided that enough was enough – then Gregg did everything within his power to call the session to a halt. Mum understood that Gregg really wasn’t upset – he just thought that he was the boss !
After the session, Gregg was slinking up and down – obviously already enjoying his new look.
handsome ted
Who remembers this handsome fellow ? He is Maine Coon Ted in Tockholes, Lancashire.
Ted is almost 3 years old now and he is quite a hefty guy ! In fact, more than ‘quite’ !
Ted’s thick long coat had become matted in places – particularly on his back and sides. The majority of the session was to remove the pelt that had formed over this area. This pelt had obviously been irritating Ted as he’d begun to try to remove it himself.
Anyhow, a short while later minus mats and tangles, Ted was feeling much more comfy. The session was very timely in that the sun was beating down and the temperature was high. Mats harbour heat – as well as the possibility of parasites and infection.
Ted will be feeling like a new chap now, and his new coat will grow back beautifully. Thanks for being such a good boy, Ted !
the oldham sisters
Pretty Maine Coon Misty in Oldham, Greater Manchester was due her maintenance groom. Misty is now just over 12 months old and she loves nothing better than to play with her sister Meascha. Meascha too was ready for her brush out today, although mum Peggy has done a good job brushing since our last visit a few weeks ago.
Both girls’ coats were in good condition with just a couple of knots here and there. The areas that had previous been clipped are now growing back nicely and their coats were a treat.
These 2 sisters are such friendly little chicks and enjoy their sessions, chilling out to the music.
Well done girlies – so nice meeting up with you again and see you both soon.
the lovely duch
It was so nice to meet up again with Persian cross Duch in Stretton, Warrington, Cheshire. Duch will see in her 18th birthday in a week or so !
She’s doing so well ! About 8 months ago she had been losing weight and was diagnosed with kdney disease. However, since she’s been taking her daily medicine she’s put on weight and is looking rather fine !
We last saw Duch for a groom in December. Since then both Duch and mum have een looking after Duch’s coat remarkably well. Just a couple of tangles needed working through and a brush out.
Each session is becoming easier for Duch and today she was very compliant and actually laid on her side of her own accord ! Vocal – meow meow meow – but compliant !
See you again in a few weeks time, Duch.
