handsome henry
Meet Henry ! Henry is a Persian from Whitefield, Greater Manchester and he’s around 6 years old.
This was our first visit to Henry, and he was a little star ! We removed a couple of small knots and brushed out the rest of his coat.
Once on the grooming table, Henry’s initial fidgety-ness subsided and he relaxed into the session as it progressed. We had a very gentle session all round.
Looking good, Henry ! See you again in a few weeks time fellow.
handsome harvey
We met up with Harvey again in Hebden Bridge, Yorkshire.
Harvey was rescued from the streets, where we think he’d been living for at least a year. He’s been with his new mum for around 4 years now and guess that he’s around 8 years old. He sure has landed on his feet and now has the Life of Riley.
Harvey is a looker, and also is quite distinguishable as a polydactyl . Cats normally have 5 digits (1 Dew claw and 4 fingers) on each of their front paws, and 4 digits on each of the rear feet. Polydactyls may have as many as 8 on some/all of their feet. It’s important to keep an eye on these extra digits as they often overgrow, as they don’t touch the ground/wear down when walking.
Today, Harvey came in from his jaunts to welcome us. A nice friendly welcome ! He watched on as we set up the gear for the session and once on the grooming table he settled much quicker than on previous occassions.
Harvey’s not keen to find himself up there, but he does enjoy the fuss and attention a session brings. What he doesn’t like most is any work around his rear quarters. No, thanks ! Anyhow, we tidied him up around there to help with toileting going forward. We also uncovered a bite wound on Harvey’s back (there is tension with a local tom, so no doubt he’s the culprit) so Harvey paid a visit to his Dr the following day for an antibiotic shot.
Mum Lauren later said
“This is Harvey’s 3rd appointment with the very talented and skilled Sandra ! When she arrived, Harv head bumped her to greet her and was much more relaxed at this session, even though he had to start with having his trousers sorted out ! As always, a fantastic job done and with Sandra’s patience and Harvey’s increased confidence the session was easier and seemed shorter … This was also due though to how much better his coat grows back now he’s being professionally groomed. He doesn’t develop knots under his legs or tummy (or anywhere !) so the whole experience just gets better every time. As I said before, if you have a cat who deserves and needs this special treatment, this service is worth every penny and highly recommended. Thanks as always, Sandra”
You can watch a short video clip of Harvey after his grooming session, on our facebook page. Note Harvey’s misshapen paws due to his extra digits….
mr oliver
It was time to meet up again with British Longhair Oliver from Bolton, Greater Manchester.
Oliver is now 3 years old, and he has such a huge coat to contend with naturally. Today was his 3rd session and 3rd Lion Clip.
Although Oliver would much rather be somewhere else, he does partake well in the session. He enjoys the fuss and chat – but really isn’t keen on letting us tend to his tummy and rear quarters.
However, a short while later – Oliver was a happy chappy with his short fresh coat.
Why not nip over to our facebook page and take a look at a short video clip of Oliver, just after his Lion Clip …..
lady lola
Here’s a new young miss to join us. Lola from Westhoughton, Bolton, where she lives with her sister and dad.
Lola is a very nervous young lady. She disappeared upstairs whilst we were setting up and really wasn’t too happy finding herself on the grooming table. Not a bad bone in her body – just very nervous.
However, the session was extremely important as Lola had developed a few tight knots that needed to be removed. We then had a brush out to remove dead hair, and to help prevent problems going forward.
A few days after the session, dad Stuart said
“I would just like to thank you for taking on the difficult task of grooming Lola my nervous long haired tortie and sorting out her knots, shes looking a lot more content now.”
Really well done Lola – you were so brave ! We didn’t manage to get a piccie of Lola as she shot back upstairs after the session. However … Here is a piccie from dad of the little lady, chilling out !
siberian red
It was time for Siberian Forest Cat Red’s maintenance session in Sandbach, Cheshire.
As ever, Red was ready for his brush out. Red likes to play out in the bracken and twigs and his long thick coat gets tangled and knotty.
As ever – A gentle, smiley, cuddly session …. Nice seeing you again Red !
a lovely duchess
Who remembers our Duch in Warrington, Cheshire ? You may not believe this but Duch is now over 18 years old !
Mum’s done really well keeping on top of her thick Persian cross coat since we last met up. Just a couple of areas underneath that needed some attention and a good brush out. Duch wasn’t totally enamoured by the idea, but she lay calmly with her head snuggled in a towel for comfort (which she loves) whilst we worked away. Well done Duch !
Here’s Duch after her session, feeling a little lighter !
what a beau
Bo from Warrington asked us to call in on him again, for a maintenance session to get in shape for the winter months.
Quite a nervous guy with newcomers, but ever so playful and such a sweet guy.
Since our last visit earlier this year, mum and dad have done really well keeping on top of Bo’s long, thick coat. Just a couple of small tangles underneath, followed by a good brush out.
After the session, mum Karen told us
“… just wanted to say a big thank you for coming to groom Bo yesterday and being so patient with him. His coat is looking really shiny and feels lovely. Bo is one happy cat ! See you in the Spring x”
Great session, Bo. Well done !
pretty april
It was really nice to meet up again with Maine Coon April in Manchester recently.
April is such a sweet girl – and she really does enjoy her time on the grooming table. As soon as those little (little ?) pads hit the table she begins to relax, and she purrrrrrrrred her way through this latest session.
Mum Francesca later said
“Sandra, I just wanted to thank you for all your continued support in the care of my 2 Maine Coon cats while I’m working in Australia. Whilst my housemate is doing the day to day work it is so reassuring to have you continue to visit them and care for their coats. I have always been nothing short of amazed at the way in which you handle Macy, who behaves like nothing short of a grumpy teenager, and also the patience you show with my nervous girl April. The detailed updates you send each time you visit are so thoughtful and I am eternally grateful. Many thanks (from Australia) Francesca x”
Thanks Francesca ! From our point of view it’s such a pleasure to continue meeting up with your chicks !
what gorgeous flowers
Thank you so much to the lovely Elsa and mum Janice in Cheadle Heath, Cheshire for these beautiful flowers. So gorgeous, girls ! xx
handsome bertie
We called in on Maine Coon Bertie in Urmston, Manchester for his maintenance session.
Bertie’s a biiiiig boy, but soooo gentle with it. Just a couple of small tangles underneath to contend with today, and a nice, gentle brush out.
Bertie sometimes gets a bit fidgety if the session is long, due to a more difficult coat – but today he fared well due to an easier to work through coat.
Well done Bertie ! Nice seeing you ! (Oh, by the way – can you see housemate Maine Coon Charlie in the piccie ? Photobombing ! Charlie always gets in the action !!)
