happy harry
Mr Harry from Huyton, Liverpool anyone ? Who could forget that cutie face !
Mr Harry called us in to meet up with him again as his coat had developed some matting down his lower back and trouser area, and a few tangles underneath.
We had a much less fidgety session today as we took away what couldn’t be saved, and brushed out the rest of his coat.
After the session, Mr Harry went into self groom overdrive. He just could not stop washing and washing and washing ! – particularly where the pelt had come away from his back. It’s always important to keep an eye on a chick when matting is removed, to make sure they don’t overgroom (as the area can be itchy when exposed to fresh air, after some time under a mat).
We’re sure that Mr H felt great after his session and we’re looking forward to seeing him again in a few weeks time for a brush out.
mister herbie
Maine Coon Herbie from Warrington, Cheshire was recently due his maintenance session.
Herbie really is not keen on his spa days. He lets mum comb on top, but not really underneath – hence a few mats usually need to be removed from that area and the trousers during our sessions.
We clipped and combed – and a short while after Herbie was feeling much more comfy. Well done Herbs !
handsome archie
We met up with Archie again recently, in Middleton, Greater Manchester.
It’s true to say that Archie has well settled into his new life, with his new mum. He’s fallen on his feet for sure !
This was our second meet up with Archie, and today’s session was definitely more relaxed. Just a couple of moments when Archie thought he knew best (!), but overall he did well. We even clipped a little hair away around the rear, to make toileting a little safer, without too much fuss !
After the session, Archie sprawled out on the settee to chillax, and happily licked our fingers. A little thank you from the man himself !
Mum Nat later said
“I was somewhat apprehensive about Archie’s grooming session as the first time he was treated to this pleasurable experience he was particularly grumpy and even tried to bite Sandra! However, after a false start (him not returning home in time from playing out), Sandra was able to work her magic. In fairness to Archie he said hello to Sandra on her arrival. On being placed on the grooming table he growled and this continued throughout the session. However, Sandra’s patience and perseverance paid off. His attempts to escape and bite were far fewer than Sandra’s previous visit and despite his moaning I think he secretly enjoyed it. His behaviour afterwards certainly seemed to betray this fact – he couldn’t stop licking himself and even hung around while Sandra packed her things away. Thanks Sandra! See you again in the New Year!”
Fab Nat ! So pleased with the session and looking forward to next time already !
sweet as fudge
Here’s 20 year old Fudge from Astley, Greater Manchester. Looking rather fine for his age !
Fudge enjoyed a manicure and a quick brush through his short coat, as it was becoming a little thick and tufty when we called in on him.
He’d rather have been out in the garden chasing that damn squirrel, but he put up with our session like a champion.
Well done Fudge … See you again in a few weeks time !
the lovely bear
Young Bear is growing up to be a biiiiiig boy. At just 14 months old, there is no doubt that Maine Coon Bear is already a Large guy !
Maine Coons mature around 4 or 5 years old, but do most of their growing in the first couple of years.
Bear from Hoghton, Lancashire is such a loving, playful boy. He spent the first part of the session fidgety, but then settled and helped the cause by washing his chest whilst we got on with his lower section. Followed by a good play with the brushes … So much energy !
Nice seeing you again Bear !
gentle tommy
Come and say a big Hi to 11 year old Tommy in Blackburn, Lancashire.
This young man was taken in by his mum 12 months ago when he found himself without a home.
Tommy is the most gentle, loving boy you could meet. He allows mum to comb his back, but not underneath and we’re pretty sure that today was his first formal grooming session.
He was good as gold ! Very compliant whilst we removed knots and mats from his coat – and he really seemed to know what was going on.
After the session, mum Susan said
“Just to let you know what a good job you did on grooming Tommy. His coat is much better – very soft and smooth. He also seems to be grooming himself more. I would also like to praise you on the way you handled him with your talking to him and patience with him. Thank you once again”
Thanks Susan and nice session, Tommy ! Well done !
cutie konnie
It was nice to see our Maine Coon friend Konnie in Warrington, Cheshire again recently.
Konnie is a biiiiiig girl, but ever so gentle with it. Mum and Konnie are on top of her coat. No knots in sight today, just a gentle brush out.
Although Konnie growled lowly throughout the session (she always does !) – she also had her eyes closed, laid out comfy on the table, smiled from time to time and enjoyed lots of cuddles and fuss. How do you manage all that at the same time, Konnie ?!
pretty penny
We met up with a new chick – Penny – from Preston, Lancashire.
Penny is around 11 years old, and really does not like her mum and dad trying to comb her at all. Hence, her long coat had developed several areas of mats that needed to be taken away.
It was a heated session, there is no doubt. However, we know from mum that since the session Penny has been a bit more affectionate. No doubt feeling more comfy with her new bod.
Penny’s coat is a bit patchy at the moment, but the important thing was to remove the pelts – as quicky as possible ! – for a fresh start.
Well done Penny ! We hope you can learn to accept (and enjoy ?) brushing by mum.
mr champion
Here’s Maine Coon Hercules Champion from Kirkham, Lancashire – looking his best after his latest brush out session. Looking his best at 16 years old – Remember ?!
Since we last met up a few weeks ago, Hercules Champion has been the victim of a pellet gun attack. Nasty, but he was so lucky – and his wound is all healed up now.
We removed a few lumps and knots with the clippers today, and brushed out the rest of his coat. Herkie (his smoochie coochie name !) would rather have been playing out – which he did straight after the session – but he was patient for a short time whilst we worked through his coat.
Nice session, Hercules Champion !
a free spirit
It was a Belly Clip for Himalayan Persian Spirit this time around.
Spirit has a most long, flowing, thick coat but miraculously he manages to take care of it on his own for the most part.
He is a big, gentle boy and lay calmly and contently on the grooming table whilst we set about his session. On balance though, we think that Spirit does prefer the clippers to the comb.
It was a great session, and we’ll look forward to seeing you again in the Spring, Spirit for your Lion Clip.
