Two new little chicks to join our crowd recently in St Helens, needed a manicure.

Lowkey and Kiko are almost 3 years old and as they are housecats they have their nails tended to periodically.

Lowkey is big brother. Much more inquisitive than his sister Kiki, and he had a good sniff around all the gear. Kiki is quite a nervous young lady, but both such sweet babies.

Here’s a piccie of Lowkey. Kiko had, by this time, retreated to her safe place, upstairs ! However, you would have to take a close look to tell them apart !

20160312_134923A Archie 120316 croppe +(c) We had a great session recently with Archie in Middleton, Manchester. In fact, his best session to date.

6 year old Archie has been with his new mum for a couple of years now and, oh yes, he’s certainly settled in and is enjoying the good life !

His long coat gets caught up in twigs etc from the garden and he needs a little help sometimes with his toileting area. The rest of his coat benefitted from a good thinning out.

Nice seeing you again, Archie !

Meet Stanley !

Stanley lives in Bolton, Greater Manchester. He is 7 years old and he’s a British Shorthair (otherwise known as a BSH or British Blue).

We meet up with Stanley’s housemate for regular sessions and we had previously discussed how Stanley doesn’t like mum brushing him and won’t really tolerate it. However, we’d also noticed that his coat was thick and becoming separated in parts. Ready for a good brush out !

So, today was Stanley’s first official groom. How did he fare ? Exceptionally well ! Fidgety and a couple of escape attempts – but a great session and now Stanley is much lighter for his troubles !

We’ll be seeing you again in a few weeks time Stanley ! Well done !

sweet mitzi

Who remembers Mitzi ? That’s right, Mitzi is around 10 years old and lives in Wigan, Greater Manchester.

We meet up with Mitzi quite regularly to keep on top of her long, thick coat. This time around, Mitzi needed some help working through lugs – particularly underneath – and a good brush out of her remaining coat.

Although deaf, Mitzi was a chatty young lady (as ever !). We now know everything that has been going on in Wigan since our last visit !

20150503_132522A Jasper 030515 cropped+(c) We called in again on our friend Jasper who hangs out in Stockport, Cheshire.

Since we last met up, Jasper and mum have been doing a great job of keeping on top of his thick (thick, thick, thick) coat. Today’s groom was much more in keeping with a regular maintenance session. Saying all of that though .. We still managed to rid Jasper of a fair amount of excess hair.

As ever, Jasper was such a good boy and complied with all aspects of the session. We even had the usual smiles at times !

A new girl to join our gang …. Meet Cous Cous from Leyland, Lancashire !

Cous Cous is around 9 years old and is quite a nerous lady. However, she did venture out from under the table to come and say “Hello”.

As Cous Cous’ coat was pelted, particularly down one side of her spine, we took away sections to make her more comfy. She wasn’t too keen on having her undercarriage worked through, but went along with it !

Nice meeting you Cous Cous, and we’ll see you again for a maintenance session in the summer.

Each time we meet up with Maine Coon Bear in Hoghton, Lancashire he grown even larger !

Bear is now around 18 months old. Bear is now a bigggggg boy !

Ever so gentle, we had a lovely session. We sorted out a few bits and pieces underneath and had a fuss along the way.

Well done Bear !

13 year old Rosie from Skelmersdale, Lancashire found herself on the grooming table again recently.

Rosie’s chest and tummy area in particular needed some attention as it had become matted. We took most of it away for a fresh start. The rest of Rosie’s coat was thinned out ready for Spring.

Although quite a nervous young lady, Rosie fared well and now is feeling a million dollars !

A short while after the session, mum Jane told us :

“…. thank you to Sandra for detangling Rosie again. It was some weeks ago and she had to be shaved from her neck to her back legs along her tummy. Rosie was not to impressed but although she made low growling noises she never tried to escape. The hair is now growing back nicely. Sadly she is very reluctant to let me comb her so we have a bit of a power struggle. Guess who wins! Many thanks tho, Sandra , for a first rate result. See you in October. 👿”

20160310_131123A Gypsy 100316 cropped+(c) 17 year old Gypsy from Southport, Lancashire asked us to call in to help her with her coat recently.

20160216_121340(0) B Gypsy 160216 cropped + texxt Gypsy is such a lovely lady. A lucky lady in the end, too – having been rescued from an animal shelter for keeps by her current mum and dad. Unfortunately she’d been re-homed a couple of times previously, but had been brought back to the shelter when it hadn’t worked out. Current mum and dad saw lots of other visitors just walking past and disregarding her. So – they just had to take her home ! This was now quite a few years ago and Gypsy’s wanted for nothing since !

“Many thanks to Sandra for a caring and professional service. Gypsy is a 17 year old long haired tabby and we did not want to risk an anaesthetic. She had become badly matted due to her inability to groom as well as she used to groom. She’s not an easy cat to handle, never has been, but Sandra managed to deal with her brilliantly and she is now matt free. I highly recommend Sandra and would have no hesitation in asking her to help again. Many thanks Paul and Karen”

Thank you both and really pleased that Gypsy is noticeably happier with her new bod ! Well done Gypsy !

eloise from hoghton

20160308_130231A Eloise 080316 cropped+(c) We recently paid another visit to Maine Coon Eloise in Hoghton, Lancashire.

Eloise isn’t keen on being groomed – but it’s rather necessary as her long coat picks up twigs and bracken and anything else that stands in her way when she’s out there doing her cat stuff !

We took away one or 2 areas that couldn’t be worked through, and brushed out the rest of her coat. Not too much fuss – and we know that she knows it’s all for the best !
