our mia

It was nice to be asked to meet up with Mia again.  Mia is a 4 year old Persian who has now lived with her new mum and dad in Nantwich, Cheshire for about 12 months.  She is so settled and such a happy little soul you’d think she’d known nothing else.

As you would expect of a Persian, Mia’s coat is extremely long and is incredibly thick.  She is a very friendly, sweet girl who loves attention and apart from a few fidgety moments she was so patient as we worked through her coat.  A few tangles underneath and around the armpits were teased out, and lots of dead hair was brushed away.

Mum is able to comb Mia and is working it into the daily routine.  With such a thick coat like Mia’s it’s important to introduce your kitten/cat to daily grooming as young as possible, so it becomes accepted as the norm.

Following the session, mum Alison said :

“Sandra, you were amazing with Mia as always !  She did have lots of dead hair, so much so you could knit your own cat after !  She had her bib trimmed and is much happier now she almost skips !!  Thank you xx”

Well done Mia … We know, that you know, you are gorgeous !!

pretty penny

Here is Penny, a Persian of around 6 years old who lives in Lowton, Lancashire, before her session.

We met up with Penny last year, when we had a brush out.  This time around, due to her coat being so thick and heavy and knotty, a partial clip was the best way forward.

Penny was a good, patient  girl while we worked through her coat, which was quite matted in places – particularly underneath, which is the  usual area where brushing isn’t tolerated as much.

Following the session, mum Katy told us :

“While Penny looks different with her haircut, she is already proving much more agile and happy with her new self.  She also looks about 75% of the size she did before, so we’re not worried about the extra pound the vet said she had put on!  We’re thrilled you came to help us out again, we’re just sorry we waited so long :)”

Glad to hear that Penny is feeling good about herself and her new bod !

tiger-lily and florence

These 2 Oriental Short Hair mix girls were due their nail trim.

Both very nervous by nature, they really did remember the last session and this time around were obviously less anxious.  Tiger-Lily (left) went first, as she was the more nervous last time.  After her session she lay happily on her cat tree, relaxing as though nothing had happened, whilst we worked with Florence.  Both had extremely long, sharp nails as they are house cats and therefore the nails don’t wear down as quickly.  It’s important to keep an eye on house cats’ nails as they can start to curl around and become ingrown (pierce the pad).

After the session, mum Eve from Urmston, Manchester said :

“I would and have highly recommend EssentiallyPurrfect! Sandra is very professional and an all round lovely person. Sandra has been twice to clip Florence and Tiger-Lily’s nails. They don’t cope well with strangers but warmed to Sandra straight away. Although they didn’t like the experience as they are very nervous, Sandra was fantastic and really helped them to feel at ease and fussed over them. Thank you!”

newborns

A newborn kitten is unable to regulate its own body temperature, therefore needs to keep close to mum to keep warm.  The environmental temperature must be constant to avoid overheating / freezing.

At birth a kitten usually weights between 90-100 grams and mum licks its belly and genital area (whilst eating any faeces and urine) to stimulate toileting.

miss moody

We called on 13 year old Moody again in Prescot, Merseyside as she was due her regular nail trim.

Moody knows what it is all about now.  She came to say Hello, and the session was done and dusted within a couple of minutes.  She then went about her business as though nothing had occurred.

Such a good girl Moody.  Well done !

bonny bonnie

We’re unsure just how old this pretty girl is, who lives in Preston with her brother Clyde who was also rescued.  Both babes have landed on their feet and found a really caring home.

Bonnie is a short haired girl, and our services were called upon to rid her of excess hair she was shedding.  Bonnie likes attention and once she’d settled on the table we think she really began to enjoy the 1:1.

After the session, mum Nats said :

“Purrrrfect service:  Yesterday, Sandra came round to work her magic on Bonnie, who is a rescue cat.  I was worried how Bonnie would behave and feel as she had never been groomed before.  Sandra was lovely and Bonnie warmed to her straight away, which was reassuring.  Throughout the session Sandra spoke to Bonnie in a lovely calming manner and on hearing Bonnie meow’ing her reply it was me who was smiling like a Cheshire Cat.  After the session I could not believe how relaxed Bonnie was and how different she looked!  (Bonnie had the dry bath treatment).  I highly recommend Essentially Purrfect – Sandra is very knowledgeable of cats and recommended a brush for me to use of Bonnie’s fur (which she sheds a lot!!!!) ….
