mellow mia
Little Mia – a gorgeous 5 year old Blue Persian friend of ours in Nantwich, Cheshire asked us back for her maintenance groom.
Last time we visited a few weeks ago we had a good brush out and trimmed her ruff, as – due to the length of it – Mia had been finding it difficult to groom, eat etc …. Today, mum reported that Mia has been finding life much easier since the trim. Lots of grooming has ensued and Mia has been skipping around happily !
It was evident at today’s session that Mia’s coat is now much more in control, following a few regular sessions and both mum and Mia’s input. Mia lay patiently while we simply brushed out – without a tangle in sight. A much easier session all round.
Following the session, mum Alison sent through these fantastic photos of Mia, and had this to say :
“Mia had a lovely spa day this week with Sandra, manicure, pedicure, eye’s & ears done with only a few moans when she had to have her tummy groomed but she is looking stunning thanks to Sandra! Haha … funny !!!! Well done girls ! Looking rather fine, Mia ! Look forward to seeing you again soon ….

lovely saffy
Saffy is 14 years old – but really doesn’t look her age – and lives in Stockport, Greater Manchester.
As Saffy has grown older, she is no longer wearing her nails down as she used to and they were well in need of a trim. It’s important for you to keep an eye on your cat’s nails – particularly if they are older, indoor cats, or are known to have arthritis. If the nails grow too long / right around, they can pierce the soft tissue of the pad and become ingrown.
Saffy was rescued from her previous situation, and although quite friendly and nosey upon our arrival she was nervous on the table. Some sweet talk and cuddles from dad helped.
Well done Saffy. Sure you’ll be feeling much happier with your nails today !
young oscar
This handsome young man is called Oscar and he lives in Blackpool, Lancashire. He is a Maine Coon, and just 10 months old. True to his breed, Oscar is a little nervous of strangers – but highly inquisitive and he wanted to check out the gear we’d brought with us.
This was Oscar’s first professional grooming session and we’d been called in to work through his coat – removing a couple of small mats that had formed underneath, and brush him out. Oscar likes being brushed by mum with the slicker brush, but found the longer session today with the comb a little past his normal attention span. With his coat – as with all long haired cats – it is important he learns that grooming is part of his routine whilst he is still young.
Following the session, mum and dad Mel and Mark said :
“Thank you Sandra for a great session. Oscar is our 10 month old Maine Coon & had developed some stubborn matts in his fur that we couldn’t remove. Sandra did a great job at removing them & keeping him calm throughout. This was Oscar’s first grooming session & half way through Oscar decided he wasn’t a fan & his ‘stubbornness’ kicked in, but Sandra handled him fantastically. He now looks/feels lovely, with no more matts & we received some great tips from Sandra on how to keep them at bay. We would highly recommend EssentiallyPurrfect :)”
Well done Oscar. Look forward to seeing you again…..
a room with a view …
What a great idea – to give an indoor cat a bit of outdoor space.
Do you like it ?
Why not pop over to our facebook page and tell us what you think … We’d love to see you over there !
gentle hercules champion
We called again on 14 year old Maine Coon Hercules Champion, in Kirkham, Lancashire.
Hercules Champion doesn’t let his mum brush him, so we need to meet up regularly to keep on top of his coat. He is now used to the sessions and will lay patiently whilst we brush out his left side, but he’s not as keen on the right. Maybe he has some arthritis, or other reason for this which makes it uncomfortable for him.
He is such a handsome fellow. Modest, but loves his photo being taken after the event !
See you again soon little chick …
april and macy
We met up with these 2 lovely ladies once again in Manchester. April and Macy are both Maine Coons. Macy is around 2.5 years old, and April is 6 months older and is easily the larger of the pair.
April (piccie on left) enjoys mum combing her and this shows in her coat. We had a brush out and worked through a couple of small tangles in her otherwise immaculate coat. April is a little nervous in nature, but she settled on the grooming table almost immediately and we think we can go as far as say she enjoyed the session. Lots of purring ensued and April obliged throughout by offering up her arms and legs so we could comb the most intricate areas.
Macy’s coat (above right) needed more of a work through, with some clipping involved. This is because Macy isn’t really keen on mum’s comb and even with real perseverance from mum, Macy does prove a tough cookie.
Following the session, mum Francesca said :
“Thanks so much for yesterday Sandra – the girls are super happy following their most recent groom. Looking forward to seeing you again soon!”
Good to hear ! See you girls soon …!
what a position !
Have you got any piccies of yours that you can share on our facebook page … ?
We’d love to see ! Come on over …. !
tinkerbell
This little madam who lives in Blackburn, Lancashire is just 10 months old – and already thinks she’s the boss. Tinkerbell is such a gorgeous little cuddly, friendly girl. Until you tell her to do something she doesn’t want to do – like laying still for an extended grooming session.
Mum combs Tinkerbell, but her coat was quite heavily matted in those usual areas where babies don’t like to be touched !!
We split Tinkerbell’s session into 2 halves. The first session we mainly concentrated on removing the mats that had formed under her armpits and around her chest – and began the brush out underneath on the tummy. That proved enough for one session, and we resumed a couple of days later.
When we met up again, we concentrated on the lower part of her body – clipping between the inner thighs, and around the backend area. It’s fair to say that Tinkerbell (affectionately known as “Wriggle Monster” !) didn’t enjoy the session and would much rather have been anywhere else. Yes, anywhere ! Tinkerbell does like to be combed in small doses, on her terms …. However, as a Persian it’s important that she learns that brushing is part of the daily routine and must learn to tolerate it sufficiently.
A week or so after the session mum Felicity reported that all is good, and that she is being able to brush Miss Tinkerbell daily. Well done mum, keep up the good work !!
