the lovely athena
A big welcome back to Athena in Middleton, Manchester. Athena is a Persian lady and is 18 months old.
Although we’re told that Athena can sometimes like her own way a little too much, we’ve never seen that side of her.
Today was Athena’s second groom with us and she lay on the grooming table like a little angel. She has a thick coat which required a good work through, but she took it all in her stride. We think she really enjoyed the calming background music that was playing for her.
Afterwards, Athena’s coat really did look stunning … and she knew it ! She lay posing for her photo shoot, like a model !
gentle thomas
This lovely young man is 8 year old Thomas who lives in Clitheroe, Lancashire.
Thomas is the most gentle, sweet guy you could meet and we just had a look at his nails today (we also groomed his housemate, Ebony). Thomas lost one of his front legs some time ago due to illness, but he has adapted and copes very well on his remaining limbs.
Thomas didn’t mind sitting on the grooming table at all, and it was all over before he knew it. Such a good boy !
After the session, mum Mary said :
“Sandra came to groom Ebony who has a very thick coat and only three legs so she doesn’t groom herself very well. Also she is going blind but can still enjoy life. The session with Sandra was excellent and although Ebony doesn’t like to be touched at the back end near her tail Sandra was able to do it without upsetting Ebony too much. We all enjoyed the visit and our other cat Thomas who is also three-legged had his nails cut seemed to enjoy the experience as well. Looking forward to future sessions with Sandra. Many thanks once again“
Really well done, Thomas. Exemplary, young man !
gentle alfie
Alfie is 15 years old – although you’d never guess from looking at him – and he hangs out in Thornton Cleveleys, Lancashire.
Alfie hasn’t been professionally groomed before. Mum has always been able to keep on top of his long coat – but this year the mats had crept up around the sides and rear quarters. We weren’t sure how Alfie was going to interact in the session. However, we needed have had any apprehension. Alfie very quickly realised that the clippers didn’t hurt. Also, Alfie was able to tolerate quite a harsh combing, so we were able to save a substantial chunk of his coat.
Alfie is such a gentle, loving boy and he spent time during the session with is nose nuzzled under our armpit, while we worked around his rear quarters. It was a real comfort for him.
A few days after the session, mum Jane told us :
“A few days after the session, mum Jane told us : “I’m very pleased with what you did with Alfie and he reacted much better than I expected. His coat is miles better and his is happy for me to brush him again. Thanks Jane x””
Such a good boy Alfie … and it was so nice meeting up with you chick !
handsome elvis
Who remembers Elvis ? Such a sweet guy who hangs out in Middleton, Manchester.
Elvis is now around 19 months old. He is a Persian and he’s quite a chunky boy. Elvis has definitely put weight on since the last time we met up.
Today’s session was a belly clip and brush out. Elvis has the most incredibly long, thick coat you can imagine. Underneath, there were a few tight mats that needed to come away, followed by an intense brush out of the rest of his coat. It was hard going for Elvis and he was extremely patient. Towards the end of the session he was getting fed up and become a little squirmy. However, he fare well very well and now he’ll be feeling so much lighter for his troubles.
Well done Elvis !!!
sweetie ebony
How nice it was to be asked to meet up with 14 year old Ebony in Clitheroe, Lancashire.
Ebony has been with her family for some time now, and is adored. It’s unknown how she lost one of her rear legs, and now she’s getting older she is becoming blind.
Quite a hefty girl, Ebony’s short coat had become clumpy and matted around the rear end – particularly around the missing leg, area. She really isn’t happy for mum to touch or comb her there, hence the difficulties with the coat.
Ebony is a friendly girl and she didn’t mind too much to find herself on the grooming table. We began working around the problem area to begin with – to get the worst over with first for Ebony – and although she wasn’t keen, she did cope very well. We worked as quickly as possible and took away lots of dead hair with the comb and clipped a small section away that was too matted to save. Ebony relaxed whilst we combed out the rest of her coat, which wasn’t as thick.
A few days after the session, mum Mary said :
“Sandra came to groom Ebony who has a very thick coat and only three legs so she doesn’t groom herself very well. Also she is going blind but can still enjoy life. The session with Sandra was excellent and although Ebony doesn’t like to be touched at the back end near her tail Sandra was able to do it without upsetting Ebony too much. We all enjoyed the visit and our other cat Thomas who is also three-legged had his nails cut seemed to enjoy the experience as well. Looking forward to future sessions with Sandra. Many thanks once again.”
Well done Ebony … Really pleased with our first session !
bola the beauty
We called in again to see 5 year old Persian Chinchilla Bola in Preston, Lancashire for her maintenance groom.
Mum and Bola have done well keeping on top of Bola’s coat since we last met up a few weeks ago. When we first met Bola during the Autumn, we removed some matted areas and gave her a handsome brush out. Mum reports that since that point Bola herself has been much more inclined to self groom. It was as though a weight was lifted from her shoulders when we took away the problem areas and a significant amount of dead hair.
As always, today’s session was a vocal affair and Bola was quite determined that it wasn’t going to happen. However, happen it did and afterwards Bola was almost swanking around the room. More than pleased with herself !
squirmy martha
Say Hi again to squirmy Martha !
Martha is the most pretty, adorable little Persian Chinchilla you could meet. However, at 18 months old, she holds a gold star in ‘Squirmy-ness’. No honestly, she’s the best !
We’ve now had 3 or 4 sessions with Martha, and she knows what it’s all about and what to expect. However, that doesn’t mean she takes it lying down though. Martha does her best to extract herself from the situation !
We worked through her dense coat and took away problem areas with the clippers. There’s no doubt that Martha will feel much comfy for it.
Nice seeing you again, Martha !
macy moo
We recently met up with Maine Coon Macy again in Manchester for her maintenance session. Macy will be 4 years old in the Spring time, and will be fully grown. Her size has definitely crept up over the last couple of year.
Although we know that Macy’s not keen on finding herself on the grooming table, each session is evidently easier for her. Today she laid very still and calmly throughout. There were one or two swear words, but these were mainly under her breath. We know that Macy doesn’t like her tail being combed, so we’ll forgive her for that particularly rude word !
Macy’s coat had developed a few tangles that we took away – plus a good brush through was on the agenda.
A really good session today, Macy. Well done !!
beautiful bailey
Meet a new addition to our crew …. Bailey ! This handsome fellow is a 9 year old Persian Cross who lives in Alderley Edge Cheshire with his family.
Bailey is a house cat, but he does enjoy a walk outside with mum, on his harness.
We were called in to have a look at Bailey’s coat as he’d begun to develop a few knots under his armpits and chest, where the harness rubs.
Bailey has the most lovely coat. We had a good brush out and worked through the problem areas. Bailey was quite vocal and brought us up to speed with what has been going on in Alderley Edge over recent week !
After the session, mum Anne-Marie said
“Hi Sandra – Just a note to say after you left Bailey chilled all evening, seemed very relaxed and as you advised, he was bonding more than usual. Sitting on me and kneading away. It was lovely to meet you and thanks again for the great work. See you in the New Year”
Well done, Bailey … See you again in a few weeks chicky …. !
the lovely konnie
Who remembers this lovely lady ? Konnie is almost 4 years old now. She’s a Maine Coon and lives in Warrington with her housemate and mum and dad.
Konnie is a hefty girl, but ever so gentle with it. As she’s lying on the grooming table, she likes to growl under her breath, but that’s all. She wouldn’t hurt a fly. What we’ve found over the sessions is that the more we talk to her, the more she responds with a growl. If we’re quiet, so is she. Saying that, Konnie is very clever …because she can growl, knead her paws, close her eyes and smile – all at the same time.
Today, Konnie’s coat was quite thin for the time of year. Mum can and does brush Konnie, and Konnie looks after herself too. It was a short session, but we’re now sure that there’s no knots or tangles going on in there.
Such a good girl Konnie ! Well done chick !
