young eloise
Two year old Eloise asked us to call in for a visit recently.
Eloise is a Brown Tabby Maine Coon who lives in Hoghton, Lancashire with her little (little ?) 12 month old housemate Bear. Maine Coon Bear is now almost larger than Eloise already !
Today, Eloise had a few mats that needed to be removed. Although she growled her way through most of the session, Eloise managed to keep her cool for the main part. We had a good chat whilst she told us all about life in Hoghton.
Nice to see you again Eloise !
sweet tabitha
A new young lady to join us : Tabitha !
Tabitha is 4 years old and lives with her family and housemate in Whitefield, Greater Manchester.
Here’s some feedback from mum Donna, after our visit :
“This is the first time that Tabitha has ever been professionally groomed so I was a little bit wary of her reaction to it, I had no reason to worry though, Sandra’s caring and professional approach was second to none. Tabitha had just woken up when Sandra arrived but she was extremely good, although rather verbal throughout the session, especially when doing her little legs and bottom; she hates it when we try and brush her there so well done on that achievement! Once the grooming was over she wasn’t the least bit bothered, in fact went off to eat the rest of her lunch and once Sandra had left the house she proceeded to find her toy and run around the house playing. Thank you Sandra, I’m sure she feels better now she’s had all that dead hair removed and on all the photos we took afterwards she looked very proud of herself. This is an experience we will be repeating in the future and would recommend essentiallypurrfect to anyone looking for professional and caring grooming service for their fur babies.”
Thanks so much Donna. It was a great session and would love to do it again !
maine coon tilly
Our visit to Maine Coon Tilly in Blackpool, Lancashire didn’t come too early this time around.
At almost 4 years old, Tilly is a large girl with a thick coat. In fact, when we met up this time her coat was extra thick for time of year and had developed a few mats.
Although not keen on the idea, we took away areas of Tilly’s coat that couldn’t be saved and brushed out the rest. Tilly had a lot to say for herself today. An incredible amount, in fact.
We know that Tilly is feeling more comfy for her troubles ! Well done Tilly !
our radek
Who knows Radek ?
Persian. 7 years old. Lives with mum in Newton le Willows, Merseyside. Long, thick coat. Lovely !
Radek’s used to his regular sessions now. Although we keep his coat short underneath, it was a bit tangly today. We took it back again. On top, Radek was wearing his summer coat, so that part of the session was easier – although a lot of dead hair still came away. It gave us more time to work around his snow shoes feet – which it’s fair to say he really does not like.
Nice session, Radek ! See you again soon chicky …
pretty mindy
It was time for 12 year old Mindy in Astley, Manchester to have a pedicure. She has a nail trim every few weeks.
Fit, healthy cats that spend a lot of time outside generally naturally wear down their claws sufficiently.
However, indoor or elderly cats may need to have their claws trimmed regularly. Also, some cats have an extra toe (polydactyl) which doesn’t touch the ground (just like the normal dew claw) and may overgrow. If overgrown claws aren’t trimmed they can grow inwards into the pad and can be painful, and become infected.
Mindy is a timid girl but she obviously remembered us from our visit a few weeks ago. She lay on the bed whilst we approached and greeted us with head rubs. Then she watched as we set up the gear. Two minutes later it was all over.
Such a brave girl, Mindy !
mr red
We paid a visit to our Siberian Forest Cat friend Red in Sandbach, Cheshire.
We see Red regularly, but this visit was overdue. This was because he’d once again had a run in with a vehicle – and broken his pelvis this time. Last year he broke a bone in his foot after a traffic accident. Let’s hope you’ve learnt now Red ?!
Today, Red’s coat was extra thick and he was obviously sensitive down his right side. So, we took it extra careful around that area and gave him lots of praise.
He did scrub up very nicely … and was pretty pleased with himself again, as always !
Nice session, Red. See you again soon chick.
happy harvey
We last met up with Harvey in Hebden Bridge, Yorkshire about 4 months ago. You may remember that Harvey was rescued from the streets, where we think he’d been living for at least a year.
He’s been with his new mum for around 4 years now and guess that he’s around 8 years old. He sure has landed on his feet and now has the Life of Riley.
He’s a looker alright, and is also quite distinguishable as a polydactyl . Cats normally have 5 digits (1 Dew claw and 4 fingers) on each of their front paws, and 4 digits on each of the rear feet. Polydactyls may have as many as 8 on some/all of their feet.
Today’s session was far less energetic (on Harvey’s part !) than last time. Although he still had a couple of moments, in the main Harvey was more relaxed whist we worked through his long, thick coat. We know he’ll be feeling a lot lighter now !
Really well done Harvey and looking forward to seeing you again in the Autumn time.
gentle pixie
Pixie’s just 15 months old and she lives in Wigan, Greater Manchester with her family and housemates. The youngest housemate is a very cheeky, loveable 9 week old red kitten called Aslan, who is clearly Pixie’s new friend.
Pixie is a very gentle, timid girl but she settled quickly on the grooming table. Her coat was in good condition as she lets mum and dad comb on top – but her tummy and rear quarters are really a no go zone. However, Pixie was a little star and we had a comb through – and there was nothing to worry about. We took away a lot of dead hair from her coat so no doubt Pixie will feel better for that.
Really well done Pixie ! You were such a brave lady !
baby bear
Just 11 months old – and Maine Coon Bear is already quite a hefty guy !
The last time we officially met up with Bear in Hoghton, Lancashire to clip nails he was only 5 months old – and still looked like a kitten ! We say ‘officially’ as we did later catch up with him for a chat, when we met with his housemate Eloise during the Spring time.
Today, Bear was ready for a good brush out. It took him just a few minutes to settle on the grooming table then he was well away – grooming himself at one end whilst we combed at the other !
There were a few ad hoc mats that needed to be removed, which didn’t phase Bear one little bit. Then we removed a fair bit of dead hair from his coat.
After the session, all Bear wanted to do was play – and eat all the dead hair that had come away !
A great first groom, Bear ! Well done chick !
gorgeous tilly
We called in again to see Tilly in Preston, Lancashire.
At 10 years old, Tilly’s coat really is coming into its own with her regular sessions and more frequent combing.
Tilly is such a sweet girl and she was very patient again today whilst we worked through her coat. It’s really growing back nicely and will soon be back to full length.
Not too much hair came away today, but it’s good to keep on top of the situation, to tease through the odd tangle before it gets out of hand and to keep Tilly in the swing of things with regular get togethers.
Nice session Tilly ! Well done !
