badger boo
A new little girl joined us recently. She’s called Badger – or Boo, affectionately – and she lives in Didsbury, Manchester with mum and housemate.
Badger is a sweet, gentle 2 year old girl. A little apprehensive of strangers, but we had a talk and stroke before we set up the gear.
Her coat was in great condition. Her coat is semi-long and she happily lets mum comb on top – but not as keen on her tummy being tended to. There were a couple of small mats under there that needed to come away and we gave the rest of her coat a brush out.
Badger was such a good girl. She would rather have been playing out, but she was so amenable.
Nice session Badger. Well done !
little luna
Luna anyone ? You can’t forget this pretty little face !
Luna is around 2 years old and lives with her family in Barrow in Furness, Cumbria. She’s a Chinchilla Persian and has the coat to prove it !
This was Luna’s 2nd session, and it was much more setttled all round. Luna managed to keep still for longer periods whilst we worked through a few knotted areas. Some underneath were clipped away, but on top we could mostly brush out.
Really well done little Luna. Such a good girl !
lady lily
British Longhair Lily enjoyed her maintenance groom recently. Well, not sure if enjoyed is quite the right word from Lily’s point of view. Maybe ‘benefited from’ would be a better expression.
Lily is now almost 13 years old and she lives in Preston, Lancashire with her mum.
She has the most long, thick, fluffy coat possible and as Lily doesn’t like being combed – particularly underneath – it always makes for an intense session. Going forward we’re going to hold sessions more frequently and keep her belly hair shorter. She really doesn’t need all that surplus fluff !
We know you always feel comfier afterwards, Lily. See you again, in a few weeks time lovely lady !
miss sophie
Little Persian Sophie was ready for her regular brush out in Burnley, Lancashire when we called this time around.
As a Persian, Sophie’s coat is thick. She doesn’t like being brushed and tells us as much in no uncertain terms. Her tummy hair is long and even with a regular schedule, it easily gets tangled. So these days, we keep it trimmed back for an easier life all round.
On top, we had a good brush out and removed lots of dead coat.
After the session, Sophie wanted to leave the room. So out she went, and the glass door was closed. She then spent the next 10 minutes sat watching as all the gear was packed up. She’s sooo nosey ! This piccie is through the glass door, hence the quality of the image.
See you soon, Sophie chick !
handsome denzel
Here’s a lovely young man for you all to say a big Hello to ! Persian Denzel, who lives with his mum and dad in Liverpool, Merseyside.
This was 3 year old Denzel’s first professional groom. He has a lovely coat – just a few small knots and mats had developed in certain areas.
Our session began very calmly. We worked underneath and removed a couple of mats and moved on to tummy etc. What a cool little man, accepting cuddles from mum on the go …
As we went on, Denzel had obviously decided that actually, he’s seen enough action for one day. However, we had to finish the clipping and combing, or he would have looked lob sided.
We’re sure that after the event, young Denzel was feeling pleased with himself. He certainly did a lot of washing to sort himself out, anyway !
Glad you’re feeling comfy, Denzel !
lovely gizmo
Come and say a big Hello to Gizmo in Chorley, Lancashire. He lives there with his mum and dad.
Gizmo is now around 12 years old. When we arrived, Gizmo was snoozing in the garden and quite unaware of the impending session.
Gizmo finds it difficult to groom as much these days, and isn’t as agile as during his younger years. We weren’t sure how Gizmo would react to the clipping, which was necessary to relieve him of some matting which had developed down his back, rear quarters and underneath.
However, – although Gizmo would rather have been still outside sunbathing (!) – he managed very well to keep his cool, and sat calm and still for the most part. We took off a large section of Gizmo’s coat on his torso, for a fresh start and we know he immediately felt much comfier. He certainly looked younger !
A few days after the session, mum Colette tweeted
“@EssentiallyPurr Gizmo is setting the alarm off again he’s so active. He’s like a new cat 🙂 “
Result !
friendly fudge
20 year old Fudge in Astley, Manchester was due his regular nail trim recently.
He’s not keen on the sessions, but over time he has become used to them and and he knows it’s for the best ! Some of Fudge’s nails have become thick as the years have gone by, but they are still ever so sharp and he gets stuck on the furniture when they get too long.
Well done Fudge. Nice seeing you again young man ! (Not looking bad for 20 years old !)
miss meascha
Here’s young Maine Coon Meascha who lives with her sister Misty in Oldham, Greater Manchester.
This little chick is always very compliant during her sessions and we always have a good chat as we go. Well, Meascha does more of the listening and bird watching !
Her coat today had just one or two tangles underneath which we removed, followed by a good brushout.
Well done little Meascha … ! See you again soon …
star lord
Who remembers Star Lord ? That’s right – He lives with mum and dad, and housemate Pancake in Chester, Cheshire.
He is such a sweetie, and loves attention and fuss. Star Lord is around 12 months old, and he is a long haired Exotic – or a Persian, by some definitions.
It’s a few weeks since we last met up with Star Lord and today his coat was indeed ready for a brush out. Not too knotty – just thick. Star Lord was a little wriggler today throughout the session, but we had calm interludes whilst he regained his thoughts and planned his next strategic move !
The tufts of hair underneath Star Lord’s paws grow long (as they do on many long haired cats) and we trimmed them back, to make them neater. This is Star Lord’s favourite part of the session. He was outstretching his little toes to help proceedings !! He wasn’t as keen on his rear quarters being inspected, though.
Nice seeing you again, little fellow … !
mr rocky
Meet Rocky. Rocky’s just around 15 months old and lives in Didsbury, Manchester.
Rocky can look after his own coat, but his nails needed trimming a little. He’s quite a timid boy, and was hiding behind the sofa when we arrived. However, he wanted to be friendly and was ever so inquisitive – so he couldn’t resist popping out – then back again – then out again etc etc – until we’d set up our gear.
Although Rocky wasn’t too keen on the idea of a manicure, he didn’t kick up any fuss and it was over within a minute or so.
Here’s a piccie of him so desperately wanting to come back in through the patio doors – after wanting so desperately to go out … Agghh … Why do they want to be the other side of every closed door ?
Nice meeting you, Rocky !
