sweet dolly
We called in to see our friend Dolly in Carnforth, Lancashire as she was due her maintenance groom.
Dolly is just 2 years old and a Persian cross – and she has the most long, fluffy coat to prove it.
She is such a sweet little girl. Not keen on being brushed by mum and dad, but they manage to keep her coat looking well. Just one or two mats needed to be removed underneath and around the rear – with the rest of Dolly’s coat benefiting from a good brush out.
Well done Dolly ! Nice seeing you again little girl !
friendly tom
Tom from Chorley, Lancashire called us up to arrange a session.
He’s around 12 years old, such a friendly guy and his coat was in lovely condition. He just wanted a trim around his rear quarters to make toileting a little easier.
Tom was good as gold whilst we worked on said area, and afterwards (all of 5 minutes ?) it was his priority that he topped up his tummy !

young teddi
We met up with a new chick to join our crew. Teddi from Kendal, Cumbria. Teddi is around 4 years old and he’s a red Maine Coon.
A most gentle youn
g man. A little bit apprehensive of strangers, but he liked to watch the set up from a distance….. However, once on the grooming table we think that secretly Teddi enjoyed the fuss. Oh, and ever so friendly !
We worked through Teddi’s coat and removed matted areas as necessary. What did Teddi think ? Well, he was as good as gold and we think he knew just what the session was about.
Nice session, Teddi ! Well done !
sweet chanel
It was so nice to meet up with Chanel from Wigan, Greater Manchester. She’s had some health problems recently, but is stable – with lots of tlc from her family. Chanel is adored !
Chanel’s coat had become extremely clumpy, as she’s not been able to keep on top of it more recently. We began the session seeing if we could save any of it, but Chanel really wasn’t tolerant of the comb. Therefore, we had no choice but to clip, to give her a fresh start.
Quite a chatty young lady, Chanel ! In fact, our ears were buzzing with all she had to say !
We took as much as possible away on all 4s, as Chanel wasn’t keen on lying over to have her undercarriage tended to – but it had to be done. It was tough going, as the matting went low down Chanel’s legs/feet. She was such a star ! Do you like Chanel’s little Ugg boots ?!
Afterwards mum Michelle said
“We would like to thank Sandra for helping our lovely Chanel. Chanel is 17 years old and has a new lease of life after Sandra groomed away several matts that Chanel couldn’t tend to herself. Sandra was amazing, she took time and care, making sure Chanel was comfortable, taking a break when it was needed and going at Chanel’s pace. She has started to groom herself, she is more active and is starting to gain weight. Sandra is very professional and provided an exceptional service from our very first enquiry. We highly recommend Essentially Purrfect”
It’s sooo nice to hear that Chanel is obviously feeling great ! Fabby !
friendly furby
Come and say Hi to Furby. Living in Darwen, Lancashire, Furby is a 4 year old Persian.
Usually, Furby runs and hides when new people arrive but he was quite chilled – nosey really – as we set up our gear.
Furby’s coat was in good condition as mum is able to comb him. Just a few small mats had developed underneath, where he’s not as keen on being groomed. He quickly settled on the grooming table for our brush out.
Mum Sarah later said
“Thanks a lot for the fantastic grooming session. You have a lovely manner with cats which shows as Furby and Chi both seemed to take to you immediately. And they came back afterwards for another look at you ! After the grooming session they were sniffing each other and seemed very happy and relaxed. Both of them are looking great with beautiful coats”
sweet hamish
This fine looking young man is Maine Coon Hamish. He’s still only a youngster at just over 3 years, but he’s already quite a big guy. You’ll find him in Crewe, Cheshire with mum and dad, and his feline housemates.
This was our first session with Hamish and mum placed him on the grooming table. Described as an ‘introvert’, Hamish took literally a minute to calm and lay amenably. As we got into the session, Hamish got the idea straight away and happily outstretch various limbs to help proceedings. His coat was certainly quite snaggy and was definitely in need of a thorough brush out.
The only part of the session that Hamish wasn’t really keen on was when we were tending to a large mat around his lower back/rear quarters. The comb wouldn’t have gone through anyway, so off it came and he knew alright ! Straightaway, relaxing again.
Great session, Hamish. Well done on being so brave !!

our ollie
We had a lovely, gentle maintenance session with 4 year old Ollie in Liverpool. It’s nice to hear that Ollie now has a new little friend who has been taken on board by the mum Barbara. Little Cookie was rescued from a local store car park at literally just a few weeks old – and now Ollie and Cookie are firm friends, chasing around like nutters !
Ollie’s coat is only quite short, but it gets ever so thick – particularly around the flanks and rear end where he has more difficulty reaching.
Saying that, today Ollie’s coat was in the best condition we’ve seen so far. It’s becoming glossier and healthier at each session. Today just a couple of tangles underneath were removed and the rest of his coat was brushed out. As ever, Ollie was a gentleman !
lovely tilly
One of our friends – Tilly in Preston, Lancashire – was recently due her maintenance session.
Tilly knew alright what was going on and was patiently lying in the doorway watching whilst all the gear was set up. Then she did a disappearing act just as we were about to start !
However, on the grooming table, Tilly was relaxed and chatty. We combed underneath, removing just one or 2 tiny snags and combed through the rest of her coat. Tilly’s little trousers are growing back really nicely and are fluffy now !
Afterwards … A quick wash, top up of tummy and a flat out snooze on the cool flags. Tilly did the same (haha !).

friendly maisie
METADATA-START
We visited Maisie in Stretford, Manchester again recently.
Maisie is a gentle lady of around 15 years old. The first time we met up with her, her coat was particularly clumpy. We required quite a harsh brush out to remove the mats and make her comfortable. During that session, Maisie used a lot of bad language !
Each session has become easier for Maisie and she now lies out, outstretching her little limbs to make the combing easier. She hardly muttered a word on this visit. Secretly, we think she enjoys the fuss !

persian radek
Our session with Persian Radek in Newton le Willows, Merseyside was sooo relaxed this time around. We’re not joking when we say that he snored his way through most of it !
Radek’s wearing his summer coat at the moment, which makes for an easier session all round and it gave us more time to concentrate on his big tufty feet. He really does not like these being messed with ! … but today, he was a star and we did a lot of work on one back foot in particular. Next time, the other one !

“Another fantastic session with Sandra and surprisingly this time we had a chilled Radek to deal with. At one point we thought he had fallen asleep !!! Sandra even managed to tackle his back legs, which he usually hates being done …. but thanks to Sandra’s magic touch he’s looking gorgeous again. Thanks Sandra xx”
