friendly fudge
20 year old Fudge in Astley, Manchester was due his regular nail trim recently.
He’s not keen on the sessions, but over time he has become used to them and and he knows it’s for the best ! Some of Fudge’s nails have become thick as the years have gone by, but they are still ever so sharp and he gets stuck on the furniture when they get too long.
Well done Fudge. Nice seeing you again young man ! (Not looking bad for 20 years old !)
miss meascha
Here’s young Maine Coon Meascha who lives with her sister Misty in Oldham, Greater Manchester.
This little chick is always very compliant during her sessions and we always have a good chat as we go. Well, Meascha does more of the listening and bird watching !
Her coat today had just one or two tangles underneath which we removed, followed by a good brushout.
Well done little Meascha … ! See you again soon …
star lord
Who remembers Star Lord ? That’s right – He lives with mum and dad, and housemate Pancake in Chester, Cheshire.
He is such a sweetie, and loves attention and fuss. Star Lord is around 12 months old, and he is a long haired Exotic – or a Persian, by some definitions.
It’s a few weeks since we last met up with Star Lord and today his coat was indeed ready for a brush out. Not too knotty – just thick. Star Lord was a little wriggler today throughout the session, but we had calm interludes whilst he regained his thoughts and planned his next strategic move !
The tufts of hair underneath Star Lord’s paws grow long (as they do on many long haired cats) and we trimmed them back, to make them neater. This is Star Lord’s favourite part of the session. He was outstretching his little toes to help proceedings !! He wasn’t as keen on his rear quarters being inspected, though.
Nice seeing you again, little fellow … !
mr rocky
Meet Rocky. Rocky’s just around 15 months old and lives in Didsbury, Manchester.
Rocky can look after his own coat, but his nails needed trimming a little. He’s quite a timid boy, and was hiding behind the sofa when we arrived. However, he wanted to be friendly and was ever so inquisitive – so he couldn’t resist popping out – then back again – then out again etc etc – until we’d set up our gear.
Although Rocky wasn’t too keen on the idea of a manicure, he didn’t kick up any fuss and it was over within a minute or so.
Here’s a piccie of him so desperately wanting to come back in through the patio doors – after wanting so desperately to go out … Agghh … Why do they want to be the other side of every closed door ?
Nice meeting you, Rocky !
pretty zoe
It was the end of last year when we last met up with 6 year old Maine Coon Zoe in Crewe, Cheshire.
Zoe is the most gentle girl you could meet, and she’s quite hefty with it. Her coat has amazing markings and some of it is sooooo long. Quite plait-able !
Although Zoe is a little nervous by nature, she settled well on the grooming table and was very amenable to having her coat worked through. Indeed, Zoe was washing her chest and paws, whilst we were working around her rear quarters. Purring away. Then she had a little snooze. Not asleep – no, she’s not lazy – just a snooze.
We removed a few tangles and mats from Zoe’s coat and worked through the rest. This took some time as it was extremely thick.
Zoe was very patient and we think she knew from the outset what it was all about.
Lovely session, Zoe. Look forward to seeing you again during the colder months.
little miss kiz
We met up once again with Persian Kizzy in Huyton, Liverpool. About 6 months ago we took her coat right back, and today it had regrown in full.
Kizzy has the most thick coat you can imagine. Well, she is a Persian ! Today there were a few areas that couldn’t be combed through, although we fared very well underneath !
….. and Kizzy’s interaction ? You may remember that prior to our visits, Kizzy had had sedation at the vets in order to clip her coat. During our session 6 months ago, Kizzy fared very well. Some resistence, but we worked through. Today ? A much much calmer session. We can’t say that Kizzy was over the moon about the proceedings, but we began the session – working underneath – soooo calmly. As time progressed Kizzy became less tolerant, but it was so good that the little chick has obviously learnt that it’s not too bad.
Mum Amanda later said
“We had a visit this afternoon from Sandra at EssentiallyPurrfect to see my lil’ Persian girl Kizzy. Kizzy last had a full groom back in February and let’s just say she wasn’t the most patient pussy cat, but we got there in the end. Today she was lil’ star, remained very patient with the brushing and combing, she got a little agitated when doing her bum and under front legs. All round though, it was a very pleasant visit and Sandra as always was very professional and great with Kizzy, I think Kizzy loves her new look now even though she has been shaved in parts, we have named it the “Kizzy cut”! 🙂 We cannot wait to see you again Sandra in October for another adventurous time! Thank you so much for everything, excellent throughout as always X X X”
Thanks so Amanda ! Really pleased with our session, Kizzy. Can’t wait for next time !!
mr monty
Maine Coon Monty. How adorable is he ?
You can find Monty in Altrincham, Cheshire. He’s just 2 years old and quite a solid boy.
Monty was ever so compliant during his session. There were one or two tangles to contend with underneath and around the trousers and lower back. The rest of his coat had a good brush out and we took some hair away from around his rear quarters to make toileting easier.
Well done, a great session Monty !
jolly jose
We called in to meet up with a new guy to join our crowd – José in Edenfield, Lancashire.
José is 17 years old. He’s lived with his mum and dad for several years now, and really has landed on his feet. There’s nothing that he’s lacking or could wish for. He even has his own little sun room, out through the cat flap .. just in case he wants to be outside, but under cover !
The reason we called to see José was because his coat had developed mats. We weren’t too sure just how he’d interact during the session, but we couldn’t have wished for better. Some of the mats were tough to remove, but he took it all in his chilled stride, and spent the session looking out onto his garden whilst we got on with proceedings. The intention wasn’t a full clip, but just to remove what was necessary to make José comfortable.
After the session, mum Barbara said
“José is absolutely fine. Much more confident and affectionate and ‘back in charge’. Can’t thank you enough. Five stars not enough. Ten out of ten and my lucky day when you were referred to me and José. Thank you so much”
Really pleased to hear that José is a feeling happier about himself. Looking forward to seeing you again in a few weeks time, José !
miss misty
We paid a visit to little chick Maine Coon Misty again in Oldham, Greater Manchester.
As ever, Misty was inquisitive and friendly when we arrived. We set up the gear and left the room for a few minutes. When we got back, she was sat on the grooming table – waiting patiently for her session !
A couple of small areas needed attention with the clippers, but Misty’s coat was in lovely condition in general. We had a good brush out and a little chat whilst Misty watched what was going on in the garden.
Afterwards, Misty posed willingly for her photo shoot !
curly kurlilox
This young lady is Selkirk Rex Rosie – also known by her pedigree name of Kurlilox Jezebel.
Rosie is now almost 5 years old and she found her new mum and dad in Wigan about a year ago. She’s settled well and is adored !
The Selkirk Rex comes in both long and short haired varieties. Rosie is short haired. The breed is large and solid – very much like a British Shorthair. Rosie’s coat is soft and wooly, with loose unstructured curls. Almost as soon as it’s combed through, the curls spring back.
No mats in sight today, just lots of floaty fluff ! This was Rosie’s first professional groom and she was a little fidgety to begin with and didn’t want to lie down – but she soon learnt that all was well and she became compliant very quickly. The session was held at her grandma’s house, so she was very interested in the new surroundings outside and spent the session looking through the window. The piccie is of Rosie back in the cat carrier, ready to go home.
Nice session, Rosie. Such a good girl !
