mister truffle
Who is this little beauty, you may ask ?! It’s a new member of our gang – Truffle !
Truffle is a 2 year old British Short Hair (BSH) who lives with his family and housemate in Stockport, Cheshire. Truffle also has a very good friend called Ralph who lives a few houses away who comes to call for him every day, to play out !
As a BSH, Truffle’s coat is extremely thick and dense. As you probably know, it’s moulting season at the moment and his coat was holding a lot of dead hair that needed to come away. It had also developed some tufts down Truffle’s lower back area, which were too difficult to brush out as Mr T really isn’t that tolerant of any resistance with the comb.
We clipped away the offending area and brushed out the rest of his coat. It’s fair to say that lots of dead hair came away and that Truffle is now feeling much lighter and comfier with his new Spring body !
Mum Gill later said :
“Many thanks to Sandra for sorting out my British Shorthair Truffle’s matted coat. He is so much happier after having all the ‘lugs’ removed and his fur has never felt finer ! Sandra was punctual, professional and patient. I would highly recommend her grooming services.”
Thanks Gill and well done Truffle ! – you were such a friendly, gentle boy.
the lovely red
Another pleasing visit to meet up with our Siberian Forest Cat friend Red in Sandbach, Cheshire.
Red is a familiar face to some of you, and we’re often asked about him on our travels ! Today we told him all about it and needless to say, he was pleased to be a point of discussion ! He’s such a friendly boy and loves to suck up all the fuss he can !
Today, Red’s thick long coat was, as always, ready for its brush out. We’d taken some small knots away last time around the chest and armpits and this new hair was growing back very nicely today. No new mats to contend with, just lots of dead, excess hair to rid him off.
As always we began the session very fidgety, but as we progressed Red settled and by the end we had to encourage him to leave the session. He was very purr-y and sleepy by this point and just about managed to raise his head for the photoshoot !
Nice session Red ! See you again in a few weeks time ….
darling dexter
Dexter lives in Mobberley, Cheshire and he’s a Maine Coon / Persian cross. His coat is long and thick and fluffy and thick and long …. You get the idea.
A few weeks ago we clipped Dexter back to remove a couple of mats and make life easier all round. Dexter was quite nervous. But fared well. Today, his coat was partially re-grown. We took it back again, as the plan is to keep Dexter short. Dexter did really well during the session and managed to lie in the correct positions whilst we got on with the job in hand.
Following the session, mum Jackie told us
“The boys are great ! They both seem very happy and have not been sick once since having their hair cut (they had been sick a lot again once their coat became long and they were grooming a lot) they both seemed totally unaffected by their hair cut time this time and we are once again enjoying lots of cuddles”
Really well done, Dexter ! We know how happy you feel with your coat short !
gorgeous tabitha
What a chilled session we had when we met up with little Tabitha in Chester, Cheshire.
Tabitha has just turned 3 years old and is a Siberian Forest Cat. She is such a sweet little thing. Very vocal we understand, but on each of our visits she hasn’t uttered a word.
Today, Tabitha settled immediately on the grooming table and was very amenable to positioning. She was listening to our music and kneading her front paws in mid air – with eyes closed at times. Part way through, she had a couple of half hearted escape attempts – not sure she even knew why she wanted to go. She settled again straight away, no bother.
Tabitha’s coat was in lovely condition … Just lots of it and we brushed out a substantial pile of dead hair for her comfort.
A really nice session little T ! Well done !
mr mckenzie
Mckenzie called us up as he was due his maintenance groom. This young fellow is a Maine Coon who is now almost 15 years old and he lives in Longton, Lancashire.
Last time we saw McKenzie we took away some of his coat which had become a little matted. Today, these areas were growing back beautifully. Just a couple of small tangles were removed during this session, and McKenzie enjoyed a brush out to remove dead hair.
A great session ! McKenzie fared very well – and he really is such a lovely boy. Well done chick !
miss molly
This lovely little girl is 9 year old Molly. Well, she’s not actually that little – we think that Molly may well have some Maine Coon in her somewhere. Molly lives in Wallasey on The Wirral with her mum – who, it’s safe to say, adores her.
We had a very gentle session. Not a knot in sight, but a good brush out was required. Molly does let mum comb – but not underneath but it wasn’t a problem today. Molly even obliged by outstretching various limbs at the appropriate moment.
During today’s session, Molly was laid by the window – which has such a fantastic view of passing trade and dog walkers ! It was a warm, sunny afternoon so there were plenty of the 4 legged variety to occupy Molly. She definitely is a nosey girl !
After the session, mum Linda said
“Molly Moo is SO chilled and smells lovely. Thanks x”
Lovely to hear and look forward to seeing you later in the year for your Autumn brush out, Molly !
gorgeous eloise
We called in to see 2 year old Maine Coon Eloise in Hoghton, Lancashire.
Eloise’s coat gets tangly as she likes nothing better than to play out in the undergrowth, where she gets covered in twigs and bracken.
We spent some time today removing small areas that couldn’t be saved and brushed out the rest of Eloise’s coat.
It’s fair to say that Eloise wasn’t too enamoured by the idea, but we know that she knows what it’s all about and that she’ll be feeling the benefit of the session right now.
Well done Eloise !
pretty poppy
A new young lady to join us is Poppy. Poppy is a Persian, she is 21 months old and lives in Accrington, Lancashire.
Poppy’s coat had become matted on her torso and on her lower back feet – so the best approach was a clip, for a fresh start. She wasn’t afraid of the clippers, but fidgety was an understatement.
Some of the knots were tight, especially on her chest and around her feet. It’s very bony on the legs, which makes clipping more difficult.
When her dark coat had come away, Poppy has a most unusual skin colouring. In our experience of clipping cats, skin colour is more often in line with coat colour – ie. dark coat, dark skin.
We know for a fact that Poppy will now be feeling so much better about herself. Really pleased for you Poppy !
white as snow
We last saw Snowy about 6 months ago when he had a couple of knots underneath that were worked through. Today was just about a brush out. A BIG brush out !
Snowy is about 8 years old and he lives in Little Hoole, Lancashire. He had been living rough for a while before he found his new mum. Now he has the life of luxury !
It’s fair to say that Snowy was quite fidgety during his session. Actually, quite the acrobat. However, it was all because he thought he should have been doing something else at that point that morning. Like sleeping or something. He knew what the session was all about, alright !
A few days later, mum Sheila said
“Snowy looks good after his grooming and getting out his winter coat, even thought he wasn’t on hie best behaviour. And my carpet is ‘fur free’.”
After the session, Snowy was lying contently on the window bottom in the sun, just chilling. Happy as Larry and a lot lighter !
placid pearl
A more friendly girl you couldn’t meet. This is 6 year old Pearl who is from Wigan, Greater Manchester. Pearl is a Selkirk Rex variant. She has a short coat which is very dense – very much like a British Short Hair.
Mum and dad are well on top of Pearl’s brushing and there wasn’t a mat in sight. There was, however, lots of dead hair that we took away. Getting Pearl ready for her Spring look !
Pearl was very fidgety throughout the session, but she did enjoy the attention. Lots of praise and head rubs and chatter. Pearl lapped it all up ! She’d still be sat there now taking it all in, if we were !
After the session, mum Emma said
“Thanks for sorting Pearl out she looks great and is a lot happier. Will be in touch about Rosie. Emma, Shaun & Pearl.”
Nice meeting up, Pearl – you were such a good girl ….and can’t wait to meet up with your Rosie !
