the lovely bailey
We met up with a new friend – Bailey. Bailey is around 5 years old and he lives with his mum and dad in Liverpool, Merseyside.
Bailey does play out – but nothing like he used to. He’s become more withdrawn since he lost his brother a couple of years ago. So, we were asked to see Bailey to clip his nails.
He’s quite a timid boy, but Bailey came for a head rub and to greet us – after weighing us up from the hallway for a couple of minutes ! Then he realised that the visit was about him – and reclined back to the stairs to watch proceedings !
Once seated on the grooming table however, Bailey was quite settled. He hadn’t had his nails clipped before so we weren’t sure how he was going to react … but he was such a good boy and the dirty deed was over in a couple of minutes.
Well done Bailey !! So brave !
baby sophie
Who remembers little Persian Sophie ? Sophie is to be found in Burnley, Lancashire and is now 15 months old.
Sophie is such a sweet looking little chick – but she’s definitely developing a very cheeky streak. We began the session very calmly and gently with her belly clip. We’ve done this at the last couple of sessions to make life easier for all (it means less combing under there between sessions for mum, as Sophie’s not thrilled by the idea).
Then we brushed out the rest of Sophie’s coat. Sophie’s mum had just returned from holiday, and Sophie had been staying in a cattery where she’d been looked after so well – but Sophie hadn’t allowed anyone to brush her. So, her coat was really in need of today’s session to remove lots of dead hair.
Nice seeing you again Sophie !
gorgeous seth
Siberian Forest Cat Seth in Westhoughton, Bolton asked us to call in to see him to help sort out his coat. He is a really friendly boy and checked everything out as we were setting up !
Seth’s long coat had developed a pelt down his back and sides, which was probably uncomfortable for him. It was extremely tight to the skin and Seth was very brave whilst we worked through it. He was distracted during the toughest bits with Cheese Dreamies. These are the most tasty flavour, according to Seth.
There were one or 2 tangles elsewhere that were sorted, followed by a comb through of the rest of his coat which wasn’t too thick at all.
After the session, mum Sarah said
“Thanks for giving Seth a much needed makeover ! We all feel much better now he’s tangle & knot free !! What a relief & so happy we didn’t take him to the vet much nicer for him to be in his home. we’ve learned a lot from you with him being our first cat. He’s now out and about showing himself off to his friends. See you next time x”
lovely holly
We called in on five year old Holly in Padiham, Lancashire for her maintenance session.
EXTREMELY vocal – as always – Holly updated us on all the Padiham gossip ! Her coat had just a couple of small knots that needed to be removed and apart from that we had a sound brush out to rid her of that dead winter coat.
Nice seeing you again, Holly. See you again in a few weeks time, chick !
little elvis
Our friend Elvis in Middleton, Greater Manchester wanted a Lion Clip at this visit. Elvis is a 2 year old Persian who has the most thick coat you can imagine.
Last time we met up, Elvis had a belly clip and the rest of this coat was brushed out. This time we decided to take away the full coat to make life easier all round for everyone.
He’s a bit of a fidget on the grooming table is Elvis, but mum was present during this session and it helped distract him.
Afterwards, mum Christina said
“Thank you so much for the Lion Clips for Elvis and Athena. Both seem more happy and comfortable in their selves. Elvis is grooming himself more and Athena seems in a much better mood. Elvis has been running around mad xxx thank you so much”
So nice to hear ! Be happy little Elvis !
3 little chicks …
It’s a Friday Fact that we’re so far behind showing you our stories and piccies of the lovely babes we’ve met up with, it’s crazy !
It was time to call in to see our friends in Urmston, Manchester for their regular nail trimming session.
These 3 little chicks are so sweet. We have Tiger-Lily and Florence, both Oriental Mix – and Oscar who is a Maine Coon cross. Although they are not struck on the idea, the sessions have become easier for them over time and today’s was without event.
Oscar is a newer addition to the family but you’d think he’d been with them all along, he’s settled in that well. Everyone gets along just fine !
See you again later in the year folks …
beautiful bailey
Another visit to our friend Bailey in Alderlry Edge, Cheshire recently.
Bailey is a Persian cross, and has the most gorgeous, thick coat you can imagine. Both he and his family maintain it well but it tends to get tangled underneath the armpits and chest, where his harness rubs.
Sessions are definitely getting easier for Bailey and although today he’d still rather have been playing out, we had significant periods of calm between the escape attempts !
We took away a few small areas underneath and brushed out the rest of his coat. A little lighter for Spring !
It was nice seeing you again Bailey and looking forward to meeting up again a few weeks time.
our friend red
Red. 2 years old. Siberian Forest Cat. Sandbach. Cheshire. Remember him ?
As a Siberian at this time of the year, Red has the most thick of coats. Lots and lots of it ! This – on top of Red’s love to play in the bracken and twigs – makes for a more difficult to manage coat.
As always, Red was fidgety to begin with during the session. However, as we progressed he became more settled. He loves to use his forelegs to clamp – and hangs on and snuggles up to the arms that’s combing him. Don’t know if this is his unique way of him trying to stop the process – or if he really does just want to snuggle ! Either way, we have a chat and stroke for a minute or so, before continuing with his brushout.
We thought we may have turned a corner at today’’s session, but it seemed he was still hanging on to much of that winter coat.
Lovely seeing you again Red !
sweet alfie
Here’s Alfie ! A big welcome to our club !
At almost 10 years old, Alfie is a Red Persian from Tarleton, Lancashire, where he lives with his housemate and family. Being a Persian, Alfie has the most incredibly thick coat. Especially at this time of year, when it was holding so much dead winter hair.
Alfie had developed a pelt down his back and sides. He had begun trying to remove it himself and the skin was a little sore in patches. He also had matted areas around his flanks and rear end.
It was a fidgety session, but Alfie really seemed to know what we were doing, and why. The pelt came away slowly from his back as it was very thick and tight to the skin. Alfie fared very well and it was a relief to see it unattached to his body. We ceased the session for the day at that point, and met up again a few days later to complete the clipping around the lower legs and rear, and to brush out Alfie’s remaining coat.
After the session, mum Sue said
“Alfie our Persian had his final visit today from EssentiallyPurrfect and he is looking and feeling fantastic. Thanks so much for your time and patience you have done a wonderful job xx”
Big cheers for Alfie ! Well done friend !
our herbie
Three year old Herbie in Warrington, Cheshire was due his maintenance groom.
Maine Coon Herbie really does not enjoy his sessions. He’s becoming a little more tolerant of mum combing him, but doesn’t let her underneath or around his rear quarters very much.
We removed a couple of lugs from Herbie’s trousers but the rest of his coat just required a comb through.
Well done ! See you again in a few weeks time Herbie !
