did you know …?
Did you know that a cat’s nose has a unique pattern of bumps and ridges ? Just like human fingerprints, no two cats have identical nose-prints !
our friend lily
Each session with Lily is becoming a little easier. Both in terms of her coat, and her interaction.
Lily is a Long Haired variant of the British Short Hair (or a British Longhair). She is 12 years old and lives with her mum in Preston, Lancashire.
The first time we met up with Lily, it was a difficult session. Her coat was quite matted in places and out of control overall. Far too much of it ! Lily wasn’t keen on the idea of a session, either !
Things have become easier as each session has occurred and we’re now on top of her coat and Lily knows this. She knows what to expect and is much calmer throughout. We worked through and removed a lot of dead winter coat. Lily was definitely ready for today’s session. See the piccie of the hair that came away !
We’ll see you again in a few weeks, Lily … Be good and let mum brush you until then, chick !
2 little jewels
Diamond and Tiara are the most sweet 7 month old Ragdoll kittens you could meet. They live in Chorley, Lancashire.
We were asked to call in to meet up with the chicks to clip their nails. They do have scratch posts, but have been also using the furniture. We suggested trying a pheromone spray or diffuser to see if this would help the situation.
We trimmed the girls’ nails and will see them again in a few weeks time. They were good as gold !
Lovely meeting you little babes … Here’s a great piccie of Diamond. We’ll get a good one of Tiara next time – but to be honest, you can’t really tell them apart !
lovely leo
This handsome young man is Leo ! Leo is only around 18 months old and he lives in Denton, Manchester with his family. Leo is a very gentle boy, who likes nothing better than playing out and seeing what’s going on in his territory.
We were asked to meet up with Leo as mats had developed – in the main down his back, underneath and around the rear quarters. In fact, Leo had begun to remove some of the mats himself and there were a couple of areas that looked a little tender.
We worked on the pelt down Leo’s back first. This was very tight and thick, and it took a lot of patience on Leo’s part as the clippers were tested to their limit due to the mass being so dense. Then, with Leo more comfortable, he was able to lie on his side so we could work elsewhere.
A few days after we’d met up, mum Victoria told us
“Leo is much more playful and comfortable and his temper has calmed down. He is much more affectionate with everyone and is generally happier. Thank you !”
So fantastic to hear ! Well done Leo, you were a star.
baby meascha
We met up again with our little friend Meascha in Oldham, Greater Manchester.
At just 12 months, Meascha is such a lovely little girl. A tabby Maine Coon who couldn’t be any sweeter.
Meascha’s coat had developed mats around the shoulders and armpits, chest and underneath. She was quite fidgety today but soon settled for prolonged periods with just a little reassurance – and enjoyed watching the hair fall away onto the floor. Enjoyed ? – Or amazed ? Not sure !
A nice session, Meascha. See you again soon, chick.
friendly asmodius
Here’s Amodius ! A lovely 7 year old lady from Buxton, Derbyshire.
We were asked to meet up with Asmodius to trim her nails as she’s taking it out a little on the internal closed doors at the moment.
Asmodius is a friendly little girl and really it was all over before she’d cottoned on what was going on. Then, after a few treats, off she went to see what she’d been missing in the garden.
Well done and nice meeting you little chick !
pretty ella
We have a new recruit ….. 3 year old Ella. Ella is a Birman who lives with her mum and housemate in Droylsden, Manchester.
Ella is a really sweet little girl who likes to help mum with her admin ! She doesn’t really care much for being combed though and she’d developed a few tight mats, particularly underneath and around the armpit areas.
Although we had some protesting from the lady herself, we got on with the job in hand. Squirmy wasn’t in it ! Ella truly believed that she knew best. Saying that though, as her coat was being worked through she was helping by grooming her chest. We think she was feeling immediate relief.
Following the session, mum Sarah said
“Ella my three year old Birman had a thorough grooming session with Sandra today. What can I say, Sandra is wonderful, so professional and so great with Ella – I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Sandra – fabulous! and now Ella thinks she looks fabulous too – Thank you, Sarah”
Well done Ella ! You look even more pretty now !
sweet harvey
We recently met up with Persian Harvey again in Newton le Willows, Merseyside.
Harvey is around 9 years old and he has been with his new family now for a good few months. We last saw Harvey just before Christmas, when he had a manicure and hygiene trim.
Today, Harvey’s coat was incredibly fuller, although he is brushed regularly. It’s that time of year !
Once again, we clipped Harvey’s nails and tidied up his rear quarters and took a little hair away from around his bib area under his chin, as he sometimes struggles with eating/drinking due to the length of his ruff. Before we’d even had chance to take a piccie he’d been back munching again !
Such a good boy, as expected. Well done Harvey … See you again soon.
darling mimi
This little lady didn’t have the best start in life, but luckily found her new mum and dad about 3 years ago. Slowly she has learnt to trust, due to their care and patience. Mimi, a Chocolate Point Persian, is now 5 years old and she lives in Preston, Lancashire.
As a Persian, Mimi’s coat is extremely full and high maintenance. Her under carriage was quite matted so we took the coat away to give her a full belly clip and a fresh start. The rest of her coat benefitted from a rigorous brush out (see the piccie of the hair that came away). It was hard going on Mimi as the coat was well due a session.
As far as we know this was Mimi’s first professional groom, and it’s fair to say that she was a fidget. She had the best view going, looking out from her session over the garden and all the bird activity – but even that didn’t interest her. What worked best, were chin cuddles from dad. She relaxed for periods, then seemed to wake up and remember she should be objecting !
Anyhow – We’re sure that Mimi immediately felt the benefit as she set about a big self grooming session when she left the table, followed by treats and no doubt an afternoon’s kip !
Well done Mimi !
