ragdoll rosie
At just 17 months old, Rosie the Ragdoll has now landed on her feet after a difficult start in life. She now lives in Sandbach, Cheshire with quite a houseful of mates and a mum who loves her to bits. She deserves it so much.
Rosie is a very gentle, shy girl until she’s sure what’s going on. However, we made friends very quickly and although Rosie was a little fidgety, she did settle for periods – which was long enough to get to work on a few mats underneath.
After the session – what did Rosie do ? No – she didn’t scarper out of the room. She went straight to her food, then had a good self groom to sort herself out. Then just chilled out on the rug and watched whilst we cleared up. See the piccie as proof !
A few days after the session, mum Laurie-an told us :
“So, you ask, how is my little basket of furry sunshine? Well, as I told you she would, for three days she spat and hissed each time I had the temerity to try to pick her up or if I patted my lap in invitation. Worse was if my finger hovered within a short mile of her feet. I did that once and was summarily bitten. No sir, she does not forgive lightly being prodded and pulled. After four days she now will reluctantly admit, though in very round-about terms, that she feels more comfortable. I know this by the renewed agility and suppleness demonstrated when chasing my other cats; she can handle the bend between sofa and table deftly now, much to the others’ surprise. In short, instead of lumbering around the house, she is now a svelte, streamlined athlete after being separated from a half ton of loose hair, grass, dead mice and that earring I mislaid. I know that, were she not a drama queen, she would thank you for your patience and kindness, and for tolerating her bad temper. But as she most definitely is, I hope you’ll accept my gratitude instead.”
Well done Rosie. Glad to hear your update !
our Hercules champion
Our Hercules Champion was well ready for his maintenance session this time around. Hercules Champion is now almost 16 years old – which is quite an age for a Maine Coon – but when he’s all brushed out he still looks so fine !
As the months and years go on, Hercules Champion is becoming a little bit grumpy in his old age on the grooming table, but he loves a cuddle and all the fuss you can give him.
Hercules Champion’s coat was thick and tufy in parts. We combed and clipped where necessary ….. and afterwards, well ….. he was definitely very pleased with himself !
Well done Hercules Champion !
hanina, the darling little one
This pretty little girl in St Helens, Merseyside is Hanina – which aptly means ‘darling little one’ in Maltese. Hanina is a Persian and is just 9 months old. She is not too keen on being brushed underneath by mum and dad, hence a few matted areas had developed under there, which were beginning to creep up her sides.
Very talkative is little Hanina, and she did her best to dissuade us from getting on with the job in hand. Not a naughty bone in her body … just very fidgety ones !
However, we gave Hanina a belly clip and took away the coat that couldn’t be saved. The rest of the session was a good brush out.
We know that Hanina will feel much more comfy now her coat is knot free – and she was buzzing around after the session, snaffling up all the Dreamies that she was offered.
A few days after the session, we heard from Hanina herself :
“Hi Sandra, thank you so much for visiting me after Christmas. I’m sorry that I made a bit of a fuss but I was quite attached to the mats in my belly & wasn’t convinced that you could make me look even more beautiful ! Now I’m much more comfortable & am even letting Mummy & daddy comb me everyday xx Hanina aged 9 months”
Well done Hanina. Such a good girl !
our friend radek
Our Persian friend Radek in Newton le Willows was really ready for his maintenance groom this time around.
Radek is 6 years old and has the thickest coat you can imagine. We think you could probably brush all day and it would still be coming away.
To make it a little easier for Radek and mum, we decided a few sessions ago to keep the tummy area short. It’s a good job, as Radek’s top even proved a challenge this session !
However, we got there, and Radek will definitely feel much lighter for his trouble ! We should have weighed him Before and After !
Good boy Radek … See you again soon !
flirty george
George hangs out in Salford, Manchester – with literally a houseful of housemates to keep him company … and they are all such a gorgeous bunch of lads !
This fellow loves being brushed by mum. In fact, before our visit we were sent a piccie of George, tummy in air, flirting away !
Even so, today George was wearing his winter attire, and really did benefit from a good brush out to remove dead, excess hair sat there.
Very calm and chilled, George seemed to know what it was all about and lay quietly whilst we got on with the job in hand.
After the session, mum Naomi said :
“Sandra came around yesterday to my 2 long haired boys, Vince and George. I have 6 cats altogether but the other 4 are short haired. Sandra was recommended by a very good friend whose gorgeous Ragdoll Milly is regularly groomed.
Sandra arrived and immediately crouched on the floor and started to interact with the boys, stroking them and letting them smell her. We’d already had a chat about the boys needs: Vince is a large cat and unfortunately had some large matted areas on his back. We’d already discussed clipping them and giving him a brush through. Sandra was so patient with him. I stood in the room, talking to him and reassuring him as he is a very timid, shy cat and he wasn’t exactly enjoying his pampering session. She was so good at holding him gently yet firmly and clipping his matted fur off. She brushed him through and even managed to clip his claws. He looked amazing after-he’s so soft and it must be such a relief for him. George was next and I knew he’d be a good client as he is such a laid back, chilled out little boy that loves being brushed. He was very compliant and let Sandra work her magic on him. He has a thick, long winter coat and she was so thorough. He was happy to lie there and roll over when required. She spent a good 90mins if not longer combing him. There was enough fur to make another George after ! Sandra was absolutely brilliant. She exceeded my already high expectations and she did a wonderful job on my gorgeous boys. Vince has been purring constantly today, rolling around flirting and strutting around. He’s even been for a brush a couple of times. George is George and will never stop flirting but he looks fantastic. Thank you so much for all the time you took on them. You did such a brilliant job on them. I will recommend you to anybody that will listen lol ! Wishing you all the best for the New Year x”
Wow ! Thanks so much Naomi for your very comprehensive feedback ! Really appreciated – and so pleased that George will be feeling so much more comfy with his lighter coat !
stunning red
Here’s Red the Siberian Forest Cat in Sandbach, Cheshire.
At almost 2 years old, he is a stunner. When we visited him this time his coat had almost doubled in thickness, due to the winter months. It took some working through – mostly combing rather than clipping and he was such a good boy.
Red lost a tremendous amount of dead hair, and must feel a lot lighter for it ! As the hair came away, Red watched it fall into the sink. Don’t think even he could quite believe it !
Well done Red !!
gorgeous bertie
We called in again to see 5 year old Maine Coon Bertie in Flixton, Manchester for his maintenance groom.
It’s only a matter of weeks since we last met up and today’s session was all about brushing. No knots or mats in sight. Bertie’s coat is growing back beautifully from the autumn session.
Bertie really was wearing his winter coat today. What a magnificent ruff ! This piccie shows it off well (apologies for the lighting in the photo).
The first time we met up with Bertie he was rather shy, and after his session he took himself back off to his favourite sleeping room. After today’s session – well, it’s fair to say that Bertie was rather pleased with himself ! Strutting around the kitchen, eating and wanting to be petted. What a transformation !
dolly bird
Persian cross Dolly in Carnforth, Lancashire called us in again, to work through her coat. Dolly’s now almost 2 years old, and still very playful.
There were a few areas where we needed to use the clippers and the rest of Dolly’s cotton wool-y coat was really ready for a good brush through.
Dolly loves the soothing music we play for her. It really does seem to send her off to some other place. She was very patient as it was quite hard going in places – but she’s reaping the rewards now.
Such a good girl, Dolly. Well done !
chirpy charlie
It’s about 8 months since we last met up with Charlie. Charlie lives in Wigan, Greater Manchester and she is, we think, around 13 years old.
Last time we saw Charlie, she was in need of some de-matting around her rear quarters. She was no longer grooming sufficiently and her coat has got a little out of hand. It was quite a difficult session in that Charlie wasn’t best pleased at finding herself the centre of attention. She particularly wasn’t keen on her matted sections being worked on.
Today, Charlie’s coat was in a much better position. No mats, just a few tangles underneath and under the armpits which were detangled with the comb. Although Charlie would rather have been back in her bed (she had to be rudely woken up for the session !) she did fare very well. A few choice words, but she calmed again with sweet talk and the reassurance of tickles and cuddles around her cheeks, which she loves.
Such a different session to last time. We think this was due to a combination of factors : 1) The session was timely – Charlie’s coat wasn’t too difficult to work through 2) Charlie remembered the last session, and that Hey – It wasn’t really that bad, was it ? 3) Charlie enjoyed the soothing music we played for her during the session.
A really pleasing session, Charlie. Well done and we’ll see you again later in the year for another brush out.
