sweetie sophie
This sweet little girl is 10 month old Persian Sophie, who hangs out in Burnley, Lancashire.
Do you remember that cheeky little face ?! Sophie loves nothing better than a good play – chasing around and sticking her nose into everything and everywhere !
Today, we had a good brush out. It’s only a matter of weeks since we last met up but today, Sophie’s coat was ready for our session. It was pleasing though – we’d timed it well and there were no knots to worry about – just a thorough brush through.
Sophie is getting used to her sessions now and although still a little fidgety she fared very well. She likes to smell and hold onto the hair that comes away on the comb … Well, we’ll oblige with anything that will distract her !
Once we’d got past the belly stage, Sophie was quite relaxed and listening to the soothing music we played for her. Although it may not be cool for her to admit it, we think she liked it !
Following the session, mum Lorna told us :
“My “sophie”sticated beautiful cat Sophie is once again strutting around showing her beautifully groomed coat to everyone who comes through the door, thanks to you and your expertise. She gives you 10 out of 10 again….purrrfection!!! Looking forward to your next visit. Thanks again”
Well done Sophie …. See you again soon !
as white as snowy
Snowy (or Snowball on a Sunday !) really is as white as snow.
We’re not sure of his breed. Perhaps there’s some Turkish Angora in there ? We think that Snowy is around 8 years old, but we’re just basing that on circumstance.
However, what is known is that Snowy has had the life of luxury since moving in with his family in Little Hoole, Preston, Lancashire. Along with his housemates, adored is an understatement !
Snowy had asked us to call on him as he’d developed a few knotted areas – mainly underneath. He’s quite a timid guy, and sometimes gets a bit of a runny tummy after stressful experiences so mum was a little apprehensive. However, Snowy did in fact fare very well. He was amenable to positioning, – although it was obvious he’d much rather have been up to his normal weekend activity – ie. eating, sleeping, eating, sleeping ….
We worked through and apart from the knotty problem areas that we clipped away, his coat was in fantastic condition. Well done to mum and Snowy !
After the session, mum Sheila told us :
“Hi Sandra, everything is fine, no “upset tummy” after Saturday which is great. Snowy doesn’t seem to have been affected by his experience, only that he has taken to sitting on my knee (!) which he didn’t do before, so I’m pleased about that. I think you are right and he secretly enjoyed the grooming. Thank you”
Thought so, Snowy ! Didn’t hide it too well … !
pretty little tina
Say Hi again to this little lady, who is 2 years old and lives with her mum and dad, and housemate, in Rochdale, Greater Manchester.
Tina has a short coat. She doesn’t moult very much, but is definitely doing more so that when we visited a few weeks ago.
She is the most sweet and gentle girl you could meet. Tina is a little nervous, but was noticeably more settled all round than on our last visit.
Tina has a lovely coat which she keeps on top of very well. Her white bits looking sparkling !
Well done once again, Tina … Keep up the good work !
mr mckenzie
A BIG welcome to McKenzie. A more gentle boy you could not meet !
McKenzie is now 14 years old, which is a fair age for any Maine Coon. He has lost some weight as he’s got older, but he’s still a big boy. McKenzie lives with mum and dad in Preston, Lancashire. You can guess – He has the best of everything. Chicken from the oven, prawns, treats ….. We think he knows who’s the boss !
We were asked to call in to take a look at McKenzie’s coat which had developed a few tangles and mats around the rear quarters and underneath. Apart from that, McKenzie’s coat was very thick and too difficult to brush out. So, we took away quite a large section for him, so that it can grow back with ease.
Although McKenzie isn’t keen on his rear end and back legs being touched, he did in fact fair very well. We played some soothing music for him – which we think he enjoyed – and apart from the odd (obvious) swear word, McKenzie sat very quietly and calmly whilst we got to work. We think he knew on the sly what it was all about.
After the session, dad Robert said
“We have a Maine Coon cat who is now getting quite old and hated us trying to groom his flanks and rear. Consequently mats developed there, at that point we called in the services of EssentiallyPurrfect – and we are glad we did. Our cat was groomed in a very professional and loving, caring manner and we thank her for that, and have no hesitation in recommending her services”
Big cheers for McKenzie ….. You did really well young man ! Sure you got lotttttts of chicken treats after we’d left !!
lovely nelson
Hands up if you remember this handsome guy ?!
Seven year old Nelson is a Maine Coon who lives in Wilmslow, Cheshire. We last saw Nelson about 6 months ago, when we had our first session.
Today, Nelson was much less fidgety on the grooming table – although verrrrrry vocal. He told us in no uncertain terms that he’d rather not have his rear end and trousers worked through, thank you very much !
We listened with due respect, but got on with the job in hand nonetheless. Lots of sweet talk, petting and agreeing with him, of course ! One or 2 areas were taken away with the clippers and the rest of Nelson’s coat benefitted from a good brush out.
After the session, Nelson set about a good self groom – just to sort himself out ! See the piccies …. ! Well done Nelson, you did well chick !
little eva
This sweet little girl has been with her new mum and dad in Blackpool, Lancashire for just a matter of weeks. However, Eva is already the boss of the household and ruling the roost by all accounts !
Eva is a Persian and we’re guessing that she is around 2 years old. When she came to her new home, her coat was matted in parts, and a large portion of the rest of it was too far gone to brush out. It’s no wonder little Eva wasn’t keen on seeing a comb or brush, as it must have been uncomfortable for her.
It took Eva a few minutes to understand that the clippers didn’t hurt and then she decided that she much preferred this option to the comb. Although she was very fidgety, she managed to lay still long enough to clip the mats from her tummy and armpits – and along one side in particular.
It was obvious as the pelt came away that Eva felt an immediate benefit. She was washing her chest, as we worked around her lower half – and even licking our (gloved!) fingers at times. She really did know what we were doing, and why.
Her coat is now uneven whilst it grows back, but the main thing is that Eva is now much more comfortable. Mats/Pelts don’t get any better on their own. We are told by some owners that they believed they would just grow out. This doesn’t happen and the sooner they are removed, the better. All sorts of infection and infestation can be harboured and lurking underneath a mat/pelt. Until we take it away, we’re not sure what lies beneath !
After the session, mum said that she’d hadn’t seen Eva self grooming before, in such an intent way. Eva was definitely reaping the rewards of her session and as her coat grows back mum has the chance to start combing and showing Eva that grooming can be a pleasurable, bonding experience.
You’re such a bonny little thing, Eva .. Well done !
lovely lily
Hands up if you remember Lily, a 12 year old British Long Hair who lives in Preston, Lancashire with her mum.
Lily has the most thick, amazing coat you can imagine. She really is just a fluff ball. Lily’s coat was certainly ready for a good work through. There were one or two matted areas to take away, followed by an incredible brush out ! See the piccie of the hair that came away.
It’s fair to say that Lily isn’t keen on the process. In fact, it was her mum that had asked us to call in – not Lily herself 😉 However, it’s evident that Lily is getting used to the sessions as each visit is a little easier for her. Today, we had several short periods of quiet and calm – before the protests began again. We played some calming music for Lily today, and really think it helped her.
We’re going to make Lily’s sessions more frequent going forward, as today’s get together was quite hard going with the comb. This will make it easier for Lily as the sessions will be a little shorter and less vigorous.
After the session, mum Mandy said :
“Lily is definitely more comfortable after yesterday’s grooming session. She is busy grooming herself at the moment – now it’s a more manageable job ! Thank you”
Really well done Lily …. Proud of you !
beautiful melons
Do you recognise Melons in Rochdale, Greater Manchester ?
It’s only a matter of a few weeks since we last met up, when Melons showcased the ‘Melons Clip’ Remember ?
Melons is a short haired cat and today, Melons’ coat had grown back in full – apart from her tail, which strangely was still very short ??!! Almost as short as the day it had been clipped ??!!
Melons came to her new mum and dad from a rescue centre along with her housemate (littermate ?) and there’s not too much known about their previous life. Both girls were initially very timid – but are slowly adapting and coming out of their shells.
Although Melons coat is short, mum and dad report that it is very dense and shedding is a problem. Therefore, a clip was on the agenda again today. The ‘Melons Clip’ that is – short around the torso and tail, with shoulders and chest left intact.
Melons is the most sweet little thing you can imagine and she was a good girl on the grooming table. She wasn’t in the least bit afraid of the clippers. In fact, she was watching what was going on ! However, she was very …. very ….. very ….. fidgety.
Well done, once again, Miss Melons !
princess puddes
It was so nice to meet up with 15 year old Princess the Persian in Alderley Edge, Cheshire again.
Over the last couple of weeks ago, Princess hasn’t been too well but we’re pleased to say that she’s picked up tremendously. It’s important that Princess’ coat is kept short as she’s had previous problems with hairballs. So we meet up every few weeks to keep on top of it.
Today, Princess knew the drill. She is well used to the sessions and although she’d rather be doing something else, she managed to stay still and calm for a time – although she did tell us a right tale !
Well done Princess … Keep up with the good work !
gorgeous milly
This little lady is a gorgeous Ragdoll who lives with her mum in Ripponden, Yorkshire. Milly’s a sweet, shy little girl – but she does like affection.
Milly obviously remembered our last session and lay contently on the grooming table whilst we set about a brush out of her extremely thick coat ! Both mum and Milly have done well keeping on top of it, but it was well in need of a good thinning out. Just one or 2 tangles were removed followed by a good comb.
Milly’s very amenable, but not that keen on her armpits being worked through. We had a good chat. Well, we chatted and Milly listened. She also listened – and we think, enjoyed – the soothing music that we played for her.
A lot of hair came away, as you can see in the piccie above, and there’s no doubt that Milly will feel much better for it. After the session, mum Abby said :
“Thanks a lot for seeing Milly again. She seems happier now she’s a little lighter !! x”
Well done Milly …. You were such a good girl !
