furnished ears ?
Hands up again, if you know a little one that has ear furnishings ! We know a few, so don’t be shy …. !
Why not come over to our facebook page and let us know .. or better still, post a piccie …
lovely james
Remember James ? This lovely fellow lives in Swinton, Manchester and is 14 years old this month.
We last saw James during the Autumn of last year, when he was struggling to keep on top of his coat. Although James’ coat is short, it had become clumpy – particularly around the lower back and legs. Perhaps there’s a touch of arthritis, which impedes his self grooming these days.
At this visit, James’ coat wasn’t as thick – but none the less was ready for a brush out. We played some music to help James relax, as he is a very nervous boy. He intently watched the world go by from the bedroom window as we proceeded with the session, and watched with interest (amazement ?) as the dead hair fell into the bag.
You’ll no doubt be feeling lighter with your new coat, James. Well done – you’re looking rather handsome !
miss molly
This pretty little chick is 7 year old Molly, who lives with her dad in Urmston, Manchester. She is a quiet, friendly girl and was affectionate and forthcoming with her kisses both before and after the session.
Molly is a short haired lady, and we think she may have a bit of Burmese in her. She has a lovely coat, but at our visit was heavily moulting.
This was Molly’s first official grooming session, and although she was a little fidgety at times we think she enjoyed it. Lots of special time, being the centre of attention. What more could a girl ask for !
We brushed out Molly’s coat, and managed to tease out/comb out tufts that had developed around her lower back.
After the session, dad Mark said :
“On Friday, my cat Molly was groomed by Sandra from EssentiallyPurffect. I would like to thank her on behalf of Molly for doing a brilliant job and leaving her looking and feeling a million dollars. A totally purffect service all round. Thanks again, Mark & Molly Murphy”
Thank so much, Mark ! … and well done Molly – really good girl ! Really looking forward to your next session in the Autumn, for your next brush out ….
tiny toby
This handsome little fellow is 5 month old Toby, who lives in Chorley, Lancashire.
Toby is such a sweet, playful little boy and came to see what was going on, and checked out all the bags and equipment.
We’d been called in as Toby is a house cat, and as such it’s important to keep a check on his nails. Introducing kittens to the nail clipping young so it becomes the norm is ideal.
Many cats don’t like have their paws / pads (underneath their paws) touched or handled. Get them used to this by fondling / gently massaging the paws during cuddle time. Once they are happy with the fondling, protrude a nail (rest your thumb on top of the paw, and fingers underneath and very gently add pressure with your thumb). The nail will slide out of the sheath. When you release, it will slip back in. Then, if nail clipping is necessary at any point, your cat is used to the paws being touched. There are 4 toes and a dew claw (thumb) on each front foot, and 4 toes on each of the back feet. Some cats (polydactyl) have extra toes.
This was the first time Toby has had his nails clipped, and it’s fair to say that he wasn’t keen on the idea. We clipped his front nails, but the back ones weren’t long nor sharp, and therefore didn’t need cutting.
A few minutes after the session, Toby was back to his normal, inquisitive self helping us wash hands and sort things out. Well done Toby … !
oscar and toulouse
These 2 handsome Seal Point Persians are 8 years old, and live in Heywood, Rochdale, Greater Manchester. Both are large boys, with extremely thick coats.
We worked with Toulouse first, and began combing underneath (piccie on left).
Toulouse wasn’t keen on the session but managed to be patient for a good while, whilst we got to work. Although his coat was thick, it was all brushable, and a great deal of hair came away. He was a little bit grumpy by the end of the session, but no doubt feels lighter and more comfy now.
Oscar’s coat was much thicker and heavier, with matting underneath and around the armpit areas. We began clipping underneath to remove what couldn’t be saved, but the end result was a mini belly clip – basically a strip almost down the middle. We then began to brush out his flanks and lower back. As his coat was so thick, this proved enough for one session as it was evident that Oscar was becoming more fidgety. We resumed the brush out a few days later and now we’re sure that Oscar is feeling much comfier with his new bod !
Well done boys … Nice meeting you, and you look so gorgeous !!
wheel of cat
Now come on …. Be honest … Is any of this familiar ?!!!!
We think it’s maybe just about right …??
Do you agree with the split, or how would you differ … Is there anything missing ??
Don’t be shy – come over and tell us on our facebook page …
macy
We called in to see Macy in Manchester again recently. Macy is a most gorgeous 2 year old Maine Coon and as such has a long coat which needs some working through.
Since our last visit, a matter of weeks ago, it was good to hear that Macy has become a little more tolerant of her grooming sessions with mum. We worked through Macy’s coat with little fuss, whilst Macy relaxed to the gentle cat music in the background. At the last session we had clipped some hair away and today it was growing back nicely.
After the session, mum Francesca did us proud by presenting us with a lovely bouquet of flowers and a bottle of wine from herself and the girls (we groom Macy’s housemate too – April).
Thanks so much girls – really appreciated ! … and you look so fine, Macy !
catching the rays …
Have your little ones been catching the rays this weekend ?
We got home from a grooming session at teatime to find our 3 all positioned quite precisely on the bed … just the right spots for catching the last of the sunbeams which were falling into the bedroom !
Have you any piccies of yours enjoying the sun, that you could let us have a look at ? Come on – Upload them on our Facebook page. Don’t be shy !!
herkie kerkie
What do you think about 15 year old Maine Coon Hercules Champion in Kirkham, Lancashire’s new name ? … Herkie Kerkie. Well, it made us laugh anyway.
We had a really nice session with Hercules Champion today. We last saw him a few weeks ago, and it was nice to see that the mats had been kept at bay and we didn’t need the clippers. Just a gentle brush out to work through a few mild tangles, mainly underneath.
We played some soothing music during today’s session, and Hercules Champion LOVED it. He obliged by stretching out limbs – even his back leg, which he normally doesn’t like being touched. Wow ! That is a breakthrough !
Hercules Champion has some arthritis around his joints so we took the session easy, at his speed.
Following the session, mum Gerry said :
“Just about to phone you to say how people have admired him again [following the grooming session]. The difference in him is unbelievable ….Can’t thank you enough xx”
Well done Herkie Kerkie ! You were such a good boy ….
quiet saffy
We called in on Saffy again, in Stockport, Cheshire to clip her nails.
Saffy is a most gentle, timid 14 year old girl. Although she was nervous of the session we think she remembered from last time, as she was evidently less anxious this time around.
It’s important that as your cat gets older you keep a check on nails to make sure they are not overgrown, or ingrown (grown right into the pad).
Well done Saffy ! See you again in due course …
