beautiful martha
It was so nice to meet up with Persian Chinchilla Martha again in West Bradford, Lancashire.
Martha is now 1 year old, and has grown up fast since we last saw her 4 months ago. She was still a kitten last time, but at today’s session she was much more of a young lady.
Martha likes to play out in the garden, and the rain … which doesn’t do much for her thick coat which gets dirty and full of bracken etc.
It had developed some matted areas which needed to be clipped away, followed by a good brush out to relieve her of that dead hair from her winter coat.
This was Martha’s second professional groom and she obviously remembered the proceedings from last time. Although she was still fidgety and would rather have been doing something else, somewhere else – she was definitely more compliant this session. It is important to introduce grooming sessions to your cat whilst they are young, to make it just the norm.
Following the session, mum Charlotte told us :
“Thank you Sandra for Martha’s recent grooming session. She is now knot free and looking fabulous. I know she’s not the easiest of cats to groom and appreciate your patience with her. You leave no area ungroomed and do an amazing job. I would thoroughly recommend your services to anyone. Will be in touch in a few months for her next session. Thanks, Charlotte”
Thanks Charlotte … and well done Martha … Now, keep out of that rain !
lovely tilly
We called to see Tilly in Blackpool, Lancashire again. Tilly is a large girl and a most gorgeous tabby Maine Coon.
It was a nice sunny afternoon, so we took the opportunity to hold the session outside in the ‘cat house’. This is the first time we’ve been able to do this since last Autumn due to the weather, and it really is the best location for Tilly. The temperature and surroundings during a session are important. Tilly loves her ‘cat house’ – enjoying the breeze, the sun shining down, and the birds singing.
Although it’s only a few weeks since we last met up with Tilly, she had developed a few mats underneath in those no-go areas which needed to be removed, and a brush out elsewhere.
Tilly then enjoyed sitting on her shelf, in the sunshine posing for the photo shoot.
Well done Tilly – good session – see you soon.
additions to the management team !
Say Hello to Jimmy Stewart (on top) and Matilda. New recruits to the EssentiallyPurrfect management team !
They are litter mates from a fantastic cat rescue shelter in Blackpool, and at 12 weeks old are keeping us all entertained – up the curtains, round the sofa, in the cupboards …. They are just so busy busy in their new little lives !!
sweet aisha
Meet Aisha. A more gentle, friendly girl you will not find.
Aisha is 7 years old and lives in Blackburn, Lancashire. Her coat is extremely long and thick, and as well as mats (mainly underneath) she was carrying far too much dead hair around with her.
We began the session working with the clippers and Aisha took it all in her stride. She lay very calmly and patiently while we got to work and she really was enjoying the soothing music we played in the background. Aisha was very obliging and helped us out by extending the correct limb at the appropriate time ! Then we had a full brush out.
At the end of the session, we gently brushed through with a slicker brush. Aisha LOVED it. She was so relaxed on the grooming table, she was almost asleep. Come over to our facebook page to see a short clip of Aisha being brushed. It’s difficult to brush with one hand and film with the other, so the footage is a little shaky !
After the session Aisha’s coat looked so much more vibrant – she has gorgeous markings and the colours just came alive. She is bound to be feeling much lighter and happier with her new coat.
Following the session, mum Razia said :
“A big thank you for coming to my house. I think it’s such a good service, especially in my shoes with a baby it’s hard to get out …. I think our cat really enjoyed the pampering ….. She seems happy with the new look xx”
It was a really nice session. Well done Aisha !
handsome radek
We met up again with Persian Radek in Newton le Willows, Merseyside who was due his maintenance groom.
As you can see, Radek has the most long, thick coat you can imagine and it is definitely high maintenance. Both Radek and mum are doing a fantastic job keeping on top of his coat, but he was sure ready for his full brush out.
Having had a good few sessions now with Radek, we know what he does / doesn’t like in terms of the session… ie. he doesn’t like his back legs or right flank being groomed …. but he really doesn’t mind his left side. Radek laid patiently whilst we set to work brushing through underneath. A few tangles had developed which were teased out, but for the most part we just brushed out.
A really good session. Well done Radek – looking rather handsome chappy !!
wow …!
Hands up if you like this ring ?
If you do, why not come over to our facebook page and let us know !
the shah
We caught up with the Shah again recently in Little Hulton, Salford, Manchester.
Since our last visit a few weeks ago, Shah has become more accepting of the comb from dad which is fantastic news. We started today’s session combing underneath and working our way through the coat, while he lay quite patiently (for him).
With having a regular grooming schedule we now feel the Shah’s coat is now more manageable, and also that he is more accepting of the sessions. As the coat isn’t as difficult to work through it means a more pleasurable session all round.
Really well done Shah ! Very good boy !
little millie
This little lass has been with her new family in Old Trafford, Manchester for just a couple of weeks. She has joined an animal enthused family – and has fallen on her feet !
Meet 5 year old Millie, who is the most beautiful Exotic Shorthair. At the time of the groom we weren’t sure if Millie was about to have a litter … She needed to go back to the vets the following week for another examination. We now know she wasn’t.
Millie’s coat had developed tufts or clumps, around her body – particularly on her back end, around her legs and sides. She was the most calm, sweet little girl, whilst we brushed out the clumps and made her feel more comfortable. Only a couple of stubborn mats on her trouser and top flank needed clipping away.
After the session, mum Lynn told us :
“Millie was in poor condition when she came to us from an ex-breeder and looked much older than her 5 years. Our vet recommended having her clipped, saying her fur was too badly matted to brush out. However, after an hour with Sandra she looks like a new woman ! Sandra not only managed to save almost all of her fur but also took years off her age. Thank you Sandra for revealing our beautiful young cat”
Such a good girl Mille – well done, and nice photo shoot ! You could take up modelling … !
our moody
Moody is a most gorgeous, friendly Burmese who lives in Prescot, Merseyside. At 14 years old, Moody doesn’t play out that much anymore, preferring to watch life pass by from the comfort of her settee.
Fit, healthy cats that spend a lot of time outside generally naturally wear down their claws sufficiently.
However, indoor or elderly cats may need to have their claws trimmed regularly. Also, some cats have an extra toe (polydactyl) which doesn’t touch the ground (just like the normal dew claw) and may overgrow. If overgrown claws aren’t trimmed they can grow inwards into the pad and can be painful, and become infected.
We call on Moody every few weeks for a pedicure (trim her nails !). Moody is quite used to the sessions now, and it’s over and done with in a couple of minutes no fuss.
… I want your attention !
