nai’ma and malaika

Two little cuties !  Only 4 months old and introduced to their first professional grooming session.

British Short Hairs grow to be very muscular cats with large, round eyes and dense, thick coats.  They are generally easy going in character and are quite intelligent.  They can even learn tricks.

Malaika (above, right) is Blue, whilst Nai’ma (above, left) is Blue-Cream.  The world is so much fun for them at the moment, and they love chasing each other around and playing daft games !

In their individual sessions, they both settled well on the table, and tolerated the various positions they found themselves in.  They definitely enjoyed the 1:1 attention, and there was lots of purring going on !  Towards the end of Malaika’s session, she decided it was a game and that the brush was definitely the victim !

Following the girls’ grooming sessions, mum Rafiqa from Preston, Lancashire gave some feedback :

“It was my first time using a cat grooming service for my 4 month old kittens.  She spent time getting to know the kittens first, put them at ease and did the full works – clipping, brushing, washing.  The kittens were fine afterwards and I felt comfortable.  I would definitely recommend Sandra to friends and family.  Thank you !”

Well done girls … Didn’t we have a good time !

florence and tiger-lily

We called to see two girls in Urmston, Manchester who needed a nail trim.

Florence (pictured) and Tiger-Lily are Oriental Shorthair Mix.  They are sisters, and at just 14 months old are sooooo inquisitive.  Tiger-Lily is the more nervous of the two, but she was happily investigating all our equipment upon our arrival !

This is the first time the girls have had their nails clipped at home.  Previously, they have travelled to the vets surgery.

Both Florence and Tiger-Lily were both a little nervous of proceedings, but overall did very well.  Well done girls !

Following the session, mum Eve sent some feedback :

“Florence looks so cute in this picture, she couldn’t resist posing for you.  You were fantastic!  Me and Harrison were so much happier with having it done at home.  We are glad Tiger-lily’s outburst hasn’t put you off because we will definitely be asking you to come back next month.  I’ve been recommending you to everyone!  Once again, thank you so much”

princess puddes

This small Persian girl from Alderley Edge, Cheshire is 14 years old, and is a Red Colourpoint.

Princess has suffered quite severely from hairballs in the past, so now it’s important to keep her hair short.  She was very patient whilst we set about clipping her coat back – although very vocal with it.  You were left with no doubt that she was in the room, as she gave her opinion on the proceedings !

After the session, Princess set about a right good wash – followed by a top up at the feeding station – then onto her bed, to finish off her self grooming !

Well done Princess – You were such a good girl.

gorgeous mitzi

We think Mitzi is about 8 years old.  She is such a gentle and friendly girl, but very vocal with it !  She told us a right tale whilst we worked through her coat.

We took away mats that had formed around her lower back, flanks and trousers.  Mitzi wasn’t alarmed by the clippers – in fact we think she knew quite quickly what was happening.  The rest of Mitzi’s coat  was extremely thick with lots of dead undercoat, and it benefitted from a good brush out.

We hope now that Mitzi will feel more in control, and able to tend to her coat more easily.  She’ll definitely be feeling much more comfy !

Following the session, mum Sue from Billinge, Wigan told us :

“Mitzi has been restored by Sandra and is now the beautiful cat she was when we first met her. Mitzi is a longhaired tortoise-shell whose coat had become very matty and tatty looking. I was worried that she would be a handful for Sandra as she can be temperamental but was pleasantly surprised and impressed by Sandra’s professional approach.

Sandra has a very calm presence and she took the time to get to know Mitzi and gain her confidence. Although the grooming was a very vocal event on Mitzi’s part Sandra spent a great deal of time and ensured that Mitzi was comfortable.

I would recommend EssentiallyPurrfect and look forward to seeing Sandra again.”

pretty princess

Princess is a Blue Siberian Forest Cat … A Siberian, for short – which is the national cat of Russia.  A large strong, powerful cat.  Many owners claim that Siberians can be safe for many allergy sufferers.

This particular lady, Princess, is thought to be around 10 years old is lives in Blackpool, Lancashire.  Her coat was matted around her back, sides and lower quarters and we were called in to help – followed by a good brush out of the remaining hair.  Now, it shouldn’t be too daunting for Princess to groom and to allow mum to brush her as the hair grows back.

Princess was very vocal on the table.  Afterwards, she resumed her favourite position on the couch with mum, and was very friendly towards us.  All head buts and smiles !

Well done Princess, you will feel so much more comfy now !

lovely holly

It was so nice to see Holly again.  Holly is a little nervous by nature, but soon warmed to our presence once again.

Last time we visited this 4 year old girl was in September, when we clipped away considerable areas of mats.  Today, the hair is growing back beautifully.  Still a way to go, as Holly is long haired – but gorgeous and glossy with it.

Holly was a little fidgety on the table, but such a good girl.  We’re sure she remembered the last session, and what it was all about … and really do think she knows we helped sort out her coat last time.  Today we gave her a good brush out, removing dead undercoat.  By the next visit in a few weeks time, the hair will probably be almost there in terms of regrowth.

A few days after the grooming session we spoke with mum Jackie from Padiham, Lancashire who told us :

“Following her groom, Holly is so happy.  She is grooming herself well and doing great”

Well done Holly – see you soon !

our lovely titi

We think this lass is about 12 years old.  Titi is a little nervous of strangers, but she soon warmed to our presence and was very compliant with her grooming session.

Titi is short haired, but her coat had become extremely thick and clumpy.  She’s getting older now and no doubt can not groom herself as much as when she was younger.

She let us clip her nails without fuss, and then we set about a vigorous brush out to work through the clumps.  Fortunately, we didn’t need to clip any of the coat away, as Titi was very tolerant with the brushing.  Vocal at times, but tolerant !

Here’s the hair that came away.  Titi’s new coat came up a treat.

Beautiful and clean.  It seemed like the session had taken years off her.  Hopefully it may give her the inspiration to increase her self grooming, now the task isn’t as daunting for her.

The day after the session, mum Eileen from Kirkby, Liverpool said :

“Sandra from EssentiallyPurrfect came to my house and groomed Titi one of my cats. Titi is very shy and nervous, but she took to Sandra right away.  Sandra soon put Titi at her ease, and gave Titi a full make over.  Titi now looks like a little princess.  Thank you Sandra for your loving care of Titi xoxox”
