radiant rosie
We recently met up with this 11 year old tortie Maine Coon, to help work through her thick coat. It had become matted in places, and needed a brush out elsewhere. Maine Coons are a large breed with females easily reaching 15lb (6.8kg) at maturity, and they have long, flowing coats.
Although quite nervous, Rosie let us clip away what couldn’t be saved without too much of a fuss. We felt from the start that she understood the session was for her benefit, and she’ll definitely feel much cooler now she no longer carries her mats.
Following the session, Rosie went to the food station for a quick top up, before checking out what she’d missed in garden whilst she’d been otherwise occupied !
Later that day, Mum Ruth from Skipton, North Yorkshire said :
“What an amazing transformation, Rosie had such a badly knotted coat, no problem for Sandra, she just got to work and we now have a different cat. She is so much happier without her knots and her coat is gleaming. She has spent lots of time in the sunshine washing and purring. Thanks so much Sandra from both Rosie and her Mum”.
Here is Rosie, relaxing in her garden shortly after the session. It’s so pleasing for us to see such an immediate positive result in terms of Rosie’s mood. It just goes to show, the condition of the coat really does affect health and wellbeing. Well done Rosie, you were such a good girl !
milo and illy
Two Siamese beauties – Milo and Illy from Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire – recently called us in to check out their claws and trim them down. (They are housemates to Tomas the Norwegian Forest Cat).
Milo is a 6 years old Blue Point (pictured on the left), and Illy is Caramel Point at just 3 years old. Both are extremely handsome chaps – nervous about the proceedings, but they behaved well.
Good boys ! See you again in a couple of months time ….
timid tomas
This lovely Norwegian Forest Cat from Oswaldtwistle, Hyndburn, Lancs is 12 years old, although he looks much younger. His beautiful red coat had become a little matted in places so we tidied him up a little with the clippers, and brushed out the rest of him.
Tomas is a very shy boy, who is nervous of strangers. He coped well with the session, and then promptly went to fill up at the food station …. which took his mind off events immediately !
easygoing elsa
Elsa is such a lovely natured, 2 years old, young tortie lady. Her colouring is spectacular.
She is very friendly and loving, and enjoys mum brushing her – which is evident from her well maintained coat. The coat is very thick, and very long – but between them they’re doing a fantastic job !
Our Services were called upon to give Elsa’s coat a thorough brush out, to relieve her of dead undercoat which had accumulated and remove a couple of small tangles. Elsa hadn’t been professionally groomed before, but she soon got the idea and relaxed on the table – even ‘helping’ by stretching her front legs up above her head to allow easy access to her armpits ! Such a clever girl !
Following the session, mum Janice from Stockport, Gtr Manchester said :
“Sandra has just visited my indoor cat Elsa, she is long haired and I had found a few knots in her fur and she wouldn’t let me brush them out, thank goodness for Sandra, she has worked wonders with Elsa, who now has the most lovely coat. I would recommend Sandra to everyone and the fact that she comes to your home is so much better for your cat.”
Lovely working with Elsa, Janice. Beautiful girl ! …
monkey man
This lovely lad is a 7 year old called Monkey.
We’d been called in to look at a few mats that had developed around his sides and flanks, and to give him a good brush out elsewhere. We feel that Monkey quickly realised what the session was all about, and although he grumbled his way through it (!), his behaviour was impeccable.
After the session Monkey took the opportunity to sit outside in the sunshine – and began grooming those areas which just a couple of hours earlier he hadn’t been able to work through. We’re sure he must be feeling so much better about his bod now, and we would love to know what his girlfriend down the road thinks !
Monkey is an affectionate boy, and loves a good stroke. He came back to us for a quick fondle, after his groom. A thank you, maybe ?! Later, mum Sue from Clitheroe, Lancashire said :
“It was only yesterday when you came to groom Monkey, our long haired cat. He has been so relaxed since your visit, letting us stroke and comb him in those “no go” areas along his sides where he had all those tufts and mats of fur. I really appreciated you coming to our home so that Monkey wasn’t stressed by a journey. You were so calm, gentle and competent with him, I could see he was in safe hands. Thanks for the helpful advice too ! I won’t hesitate to contact you if Monkey needs professional grooming again. I’m sending you a photo of him relaxing in the sunshine. With best wishes”
… and here is the photo …..
Such a good boy, Monkey !

sweet oscar
Oscar, a 5 year old chocolate point Persian, called us in to have a look at his coat as he’d developed a few tangles and mats.
He enjoys being brushed, and much prefers a little tugging with the comb to the clippers. We took away what couldn’t be saved, and teased out the rest of his coat. Oscar was quite squirmy and it took him a while to settle down on the table. Contrary – as cats are – once we’d finished the session Oscar was quite content remaining on the table … We had to politely ask him to leave !
Later, Oscar’s mum from Ellesmere Port, The Wirral commented that Oscar had then spent his afternoon pottering around the garden, and topping up his tum !
lady kitty
This pretty 20 year old lady was in need of a thorough groom to thin out her coat, and remove some clumpy areas. Kitty suffers from arthritis, and maybe this is why she can no longer give her thick coat the attention it needs. We were able to remove a tremendous amount of dead hair from Kitty’s coat.
Within a few days it was apparent that she is really benefiting from the session. Not only does she look younger (!), we saw a little spring in her step !
Granddaughter C was a big help, supervising part of the proceedings. Thanks C !
Mum Viv and dad Mike from Urmston, Greater Manchester later said :
“You could not wish for a better service than that provided by Sandra from EssentiallyPurrfect. Both friendly and efficient she worked tirelessly and with a great patience whilst grooming a very bad tempered cat. We were very pleased with the final result and can recommend her service to anyone.”
It was lovely to work with Kitty, and to see the years fall off her after the session. Well done Kitty !
ginger sam
This handsome lad is Sam from Chorley, Lancashire.
Although Sam is short haired, it was extremely thick and clumpy down his back and sides. Sam wouldn’t let mum and dad touch these spots, so it was impossible for them to make a difference.
Our approach was to clip away areas which couldn’t easily be brushed out – as Sam wasn’t the most patient of chaps. He was very vocal, and it is fair to say that he wasn’t keen on the grooming idea !
However, now he is clump free he will definitely feel much better about himself and the hair will grow back beautifully.
our radek
We recently saw another little favourite boy of ours. A few months ago Radek had some of his coat clipped away, but now it’s all grown back beautifully.
Radek is a Persian, and he has such a thick, long coat. Both Radek and mum Lorraine from Newton-le-Willows, Merseyside have really kept on top of the grooming and Radek was tangle free. We gave his coat a real good brush out to thin it out and remove the dead undercoat.
Radek was very calm and not only patient – some of the positions he put himself into really helped ! Flat on his back, with 4 legs in the air, of his own accord ….
We really should have got a photo of that ! Maybe next time ? ….. watch this space !
